Does Pennzoil Ultra withstand the heat better? I am, and always have been a big Mobil 1 guy. Used it in every car I had that had under 100k miles on it.

Race cobalt used Mobil1 5w30 as recommended. They found out nothing else held up as well.

Well I live in WV so basically when I go driving i'm roadracing lol.

These cars take curves good to an extent, I still don't push the SS/TC to hard on the roads here though, don't want it to end up like the SS/SC:

(FYI though I wasn't doing anything really stupid when I did that lol)

No, driving on the road is NOT like driving on a track. There are a million other variables to consider such as gravel, animals, other people, changing pavement, etc. Yeah, i rip some back roads from time to time, but its at a MUCH slower pace than I would on a track. Bet if you were on a track then your SS/SC wouldn't look like that ^.

Hard to tell, when I wrecked though I actually wasn't driving like an idiot on the road lol, I was just driving normal and hit gravel

Exactly my point. I have wrecked a car (repairable) by hitting gravel under normal driving habits. Thats why I say it is nothing compared to a track. In no way was I taking a pot shot at you.

Thing is, even taking those into account, GM took the time to instrument turbo speed measurement so they know how much was safe to request, what waste gate ramp ups, etc. I trust that their tune is reliable. They have to pay if they mess up. Til another tuner comes along and starts logging day after day at tracks, i'll stick with the gms1.
hahah yeah iv had some problems but if u buy a car every year they treat u good :-)

Not sure, but I am willing to give it a try based on all the reviews.
Me too, Mobil 1 was all I used in my track cars for the last ten years, never had a problem...

I a wrecked a pretty quick car streetracing once. Not worth it trust me - open track is WHAYYYYY more fun and safer!

Check out our vid from last Friday, we did not know the NSX driver's comfort level so we were holding back a little... I gave him lots off room but he still dropped a wheel haha.

and a pic from a week ago giving instructing lessons to my wife .

Folks that think they "drive hard" on the street have no idea what a fast session on track is like. It is WOT most of the time you're out there, or otherwise you're railing on the brakes.

Depending on how fast you're driving on track, the stock pads may suffice. They're pretty good Ferrodos. The stock rotors are also good. Don't listen to the bunk. There's no need to replace them. Hell, send me your stock rotors if you "upgrade". I did swap to Cobalt Friction XR1 for the front pads just for the event. Anything less than Hawk DTC 60 will be a downgrade. I also ran with an OTTP hardcore rear bar.

I'm looking forward to getting back out on track with the Pedders and control arm bushings. I have a pretty full schedule this spring though, so I probably won't be back out til July. The car's very predictable, and will understeer on throttle (yes, even with the hardcore bar and r compounds), but slides predictably while trail braking or on lift-throttle. It's quite easy to drive at 9/10ths. Lots of folks wonder what the car is, so it's great fun to surprise folks.

Have fun, and be safe.
Who carries Cobalt Friction XR1s? Is it only direct and a handful of distributors? How do you like them for track/DD use?

Just watched your video Venom9..... really great stuff here... this is what I want to do with it. The tracks I plan on attending are, Road America,(Elkhart Lake Wis.) Autobhan(sp),(Joliet, Illinois) MidAmerican Motorplex,(Pacific Junction,Iowa).
While my experience has been with Mustangs, this will be a different girl alltogether.
I might just take her out and see how she goes bone stock. I just bought the car as a new vehicle purchase a week ago and it has only 679 miles on it now. The dealer had the car for almost a year and was eager to unload it... not sure why.... GREAT little car, I just love to drive it. My mustang buddies are giving me a hard time with having it though.
So i am trying to get info on how to hop it up a little. So If you could any info or links to sites on suspesion, brakes, etc would be great.

Get GM stg1 kit...

Pedders springs
ottp cabs
ottp hardcore bar
ottp stg1 motor mounts
pedders rack spacers from ottp
upgraded brake pads (XR1)

/\ this would be a nice start...then I'd look into a different wheel N tire setup

What mods are you planning running to stay in TTC?
When I was looking into NASA TT seemed like you really couldn't do crap without going to TTB.

Only mod I'm doing is the ecu reflash (trifecta) but that doesn't deduct any points, but the weight to power ratio is something to be considered cause that is taken into affect..

The other thing that you can do is upgrade to R-Comps and that'll barely keep you in TTC.

Just curious, don't you guys run some high octane gas (104+) on the track as a safety mearsure?

No, I'm running this car with just 93. We spend too much money on things like tires, brakes, and hotel rooms to buy 100 octane

Had my race car tuned for 100, but that's too expensive if you're just screwing around in a non-competitive event.

They're track only pads. You can get away with driving a short distance on the street, like from the hotel to the track, but I wouldn't go much more than that. You'll have to be careful at night too. Don't brake too hard, or you may throw sparks, which will attract unintended attention

You can pick them up from any Cobalt Friction distributor, or give Victor at VPR Motorsports a holler. victor@vprmotorsports.com

BTW - I've driven on TWS a few times. I used to live in Dallas. I think they've extended the infield since I've been there.

Yes I bought the Black sedan from Shottenkirk. The car was built in May of 09 and it was PDI-ed in June of 09 so I say they had it 11 months.
As for the Mustang Club, no never a member, but went to Northwoods Shelby events at RA

Currently running Neosynth 610, but I'll probably switch to Endless soon when I do my brake line swap. Any of the high performance fluids like Motul, GSPerf, Neo, Endless, etc will all be just fine for a daily driver, and if you don't boil it (you'll know...) you can probably get away with just changing it once a year.
