Bluetooth in the SS/TC

I think I heard somewhere that the 09's came with bluetooth in the stereo, but not the 08's? I have an 08 and I want to have bluetooth in the car, but don't want to deal with aftermarket stuff that MAY or MAY NOT work. If the 09' has bluetooth...is there anyway to get the part(s) from GM and have them installed in my 08? Thanks.

Yeah not worth the money.

Also, does anyone know if you could play songs through the Bluetooth like you can with bluetooth headphones?

You cannot. There has been a thread on this in the past. After contacting people within GM, we found out that it would require the replacement of OnStar modules and radio parts. I am just as disappointed as you, but we are out of luck...

The only problem I've seen is that 99% of aftermarket bluetooth setups us an FM transmitter instead of linking directly to the head unit. I want my bluetooth to auto-connect anytime my phone is in the car and the car is on. I want my stereo to automatically turn on or change to bluetooth receiver when a call comes in or I make a call. I don't want to have turn on and/or change receiver by hand. It would defeat the purpose.

Any recommendations on an aftermarket one?

you can have it on so when a call comes in you dont have to turn it on, i have an 09 and all you have to do is pair your device with the radio when you first start the car at a stop other wise it wont work, thats what i do and it works for me, and for the other qyestion that some one asked, if you could make a 08 have this feature, yes you can but you will have to buy the new radio from gm, for about 1,000+ for the radio, and they wont give you a different one if yours is broken either, so dont try to brake your radio to get that one to replace it with the 09's radio cause gm wont do that they strictly only relace your parts with the same part number that it was, and anyone with an 05-07 can not use the radios from 08-09 because of a different wiring with the harness and pcm of the car sorry, i know this cause i wanted the radio like my 09's for my 05 but it cant be done

I totally love the bluetooth on the 09. The fact that I can link it up with the car and dial with voice command and make/answer calls thru my own phone is great.

I have bluetooth on my '09 LT. I love how it mutes the stereo when a call comes in and I can answer it with the steering wheel controls. I think this is one of the best features GM has ever included in a car.

Being able to press a button and simply say call work and it calls my job is the best!
