I don't think it's a bad deal. I think it helps fill the gap between our upcoming EFR offering and the stock turbo. I only posted to put a stop to the 75whp gain claim before it started running rampant. Your 50whp number seems reasonable at this point, but more data is needed.

i didn't mean you were insinuating that it was a bad deal.. some other people were..

75 will need other mods.. cams, ported head, and some more boost should help but it also could hurt

Lol, someone got mad HAHA. And dude, your doing it wrong, 260whp with everything youve tried. Id be mad too...

75 WHP is doable (w/o cams), my car isn't even fully dialed in yet. I went to the dyno to get a base line not final numbers. Nicks car in phoenix on a dyno jet, fully dialed in on the 50/50 mix put down 343WHP with a slipping clutch. (so maybe ~355-360 on a dyno jet, so realistically 340 on a mustang dyno in my area) That already has me at a 50WHP gain from his dyno jet numbers.

To get a real comparison I need to get a fully bolted car on the 50/50 mix and stock turbo to dyno down here on the exact dyno. Or I have to drive 2 hours to the dyno jet and pull a comparison sheet.

I am all about real numbers so I am not going to do any ricer math here. 75WHP should be achievable without cams. I just need to get more data. Nothing personal against ZZP earlier, I just got rubbed a little wrong by the way you were coming across in this thread. I am sure the BBB can be manipulated, I have had nothing but good customer service from ya'll when I have had to use it.

and 260 whp.. and 360 wtrq.. because i only had 7 psi at redline.. i now have 11 psi at redline. soo yea.. lol that should make me l33t fast just lyke j00

everything i've tried? yea ok lol i've tried procharged which i had issues with .. but was pushing 39 lb/min.. then wanted something more reliable .. so i went turboed and pushing 32-33 lb/min .. i fail to see how doubling the hp of a car is doing it wrong but if you say so boss

I am still interested in the power you will be getting. Are you on a 50/50 blend with the BNR yet or are you running 91 only still?

This is what I find funny, people bitch and moaned about numbers before they would buy the BNR turbos.

The 2860 wasn't much better then the stock K04 from results and instantly assumed the BNR 2871 wasn't going to be up to par.

So BNR 2871 numbers get posted with excellent results for all the whiney asses and people are complaining still, why?

Hell Drew even dyno'd it on a Mustang dyno and with compared results to other modified cars the same day.

I don't recall anyone saying the BNR 2871 was going to be a +400 whp turbo (although its very possible fromt he looks of it), it has always been talked about being a 400 whp turbo,
7 whp off isn't bad imo.

Like Matt pointed out it will fit right in a niche between the stock K04 and the ZZP upcoming EFR bolt on. I'm sure price will reflect that, but to be fair more power cost more money, hp isn't free (unless you count stickers ) .

If you want the BNR 2871 turbo buy it, if not stick to your stocker, buy a turbo kit, or wait for the upcoming ZZP EFR turbo.

Sorry to interrupt, but have you ever done logging on a car after doing the airbox mod? I can assure you all is not fine and dandy after that mod and does require some adjustments.

Didn't ZZP make a claim that their ported head and cam package adds 100whp? But that was based on stock tune vs that package with a tune. So it's not ok to do the same with this turbo now?

Is that question for me? If so, I don't agree because the claims were based on the potential of the K04 vs. the 2871.

If it wasnt for me and Kurt we wouldnt have had 2860 numbers to begin with. We saved a few ppl from experiencing a let down with the 2860. Things like this happen and thats why we have early adopters. I dont see anything wrong with ppl wanting numbers on an untested platform before they buy. Its pretty normal if you ask me.

I do agree however with your other points. Now that we have numbers on the 2871 theres no reason for ppl to doubt what it can do and how it performs. Those are damn good numbers for a bolt on turbo and should make lots of cobalt owners very happy.

Not everyone is looking to put down 450+ hp on a FWD platform

Peak numbers aren't what matters. The dip in either turbo's graph above 6k would keep me from buying either honestly.

Ok so lets be fair with the ported head/cams then and compare your numbers to that which other people are getting without them. Highest whp without cams on E85 (blend even) is 367whp, you guys did 409whp correct? That makes for 42whp or 46-50hp. Now the 100hp claim is unrealistic.

That's all Im saying. You are comparing something a certain way to promote it a certain way then saying the same can't be done in this situation.

I know this LOL I have a question though, why does the dip matter? What does it mean to you in the overall picture? drewbroo's graph looks pretty clean to me with power climing right before 3k.

But if peak numbers dont matter then no one shoulg be counting their peak K04 numbers either

Im with you here, I think this is a stg1 upgrade as far as turbo's go. But I still think there's something a lil off with the setup.

Yeah, I would feel comfortable calling it a stage 1 since not everyone is going to run E on it and therefore would probably be more around the 370whp mark.

The turbo just doesn't go away an come back. There is something limiting flow at that RPM. Could be not enough timing, too much timing, Knock retard, factory boost control issues. Its hard to know exactly whats going on 100% when someone is remote tuning. If the boost is staying solid at 26 psi, there is definately something going on that is causing the dip especially if the dip goes away in higher RPM's.
