Brakes!!!

I think its about time I change my brake pads. I hate how much the stock pads dust, so does anyone have suggestions on new brake pads that dont dust alot but also provide the same stopping that the stock ones do. I have an 09 SS/TC.

If you are okay with losing some braking, get Hawk ceramics. Okay for the street, but don't attempt to track/autox on them.

I put hawk HPS on my rears and they are WAY less dusty than the stock ones were. Hard to comment on performance though, since it's only the rear brakes.

No, I run stock pads. I keep buying slightly used ones on here for dirt cheap, when people downgrade to other pads.

I have an '09 Cobalt SS/TC as well. I just ordered some Hawk HPS front brake pads from discountbrakes.com yesterday. I don't track/AutoX, so I don't need brakes that will be useful for driving in those events. Instead I just needed brakes that would last a while, not dust easily & not make too much noise. The Hawk HPS' fit that bill.

That's why I went with the HPS. The stock fronts were great, except in winter, they seemed to take forever to come up to temp and there was some days they were horribly unresponsive in sub-zero temperatures. Since my car is daily driven 99.9% of the time, I went with the HPS for longevity/less dust knowing very well they wouldn't stand up in autox/track conditions.

Ya I dont track drive either. Just a daily driver car. Do the hawk pads on the front brakes dust less than the stock ones?

Hawk ceramics if you want less dust. HPS will dust a lot too.

Less yes, still there but not as noticeable. Like Wangspeed said, the ceramics will generate the least dust of all. Compared to the stocks, I can go 2 or 3 times longer without hand washing the wheels with the HPS, but it probably also depends on how much you drive the car on a weekly basis.

I would say for a DD, either or is a good choice .
