Reviving an old thread but, what color are your calipers? They are gorgeous.

I hate rebuilding calipers, but I'll need to do it soonish, or I'll need to buy new ones, and sell mine to someone willing to do a full rebuild.

My dust boots have become exactly what they are trying to keep out, dust. My seals probably aren't too happy about hitting 500F. Let's not even discuss the glowing rotors, which have melted the boot on the ABS sensors.

I'm about to get a set of Brembo calipers for $100. So a rebuild is almost nothing for me. I want to powder coat them and do work to them so that I can have my rims clear them.

Damn, Wanger! You really put that car through it's paces. Look at those heat-fractures! That's just awesome. I think you should write Brembo and tell them their calipers suck.

Oh, they got worse before the weekend was over I have some new cheapy R1 premium blanks now. Found them for $53 on Amazon. That's less than stock.

p.s. This is why bozos with drilled rotors get a good mocking.

Zombie thread revival. This is the #1 hit on 'brembo rebuild cobalt' so I thought I'd share some info... ::gets flamed for 3 year thread revival ::

My slide pins were FROZEN on right front caliper, I mean genuinely stuck. Also had a frozen, salt-encrusted piston and other BS. Used a 5-ton press and PB Blaster to get the pins out and WD-40/penetrating fluid + 150 PSI air compressor to blast the piston out. Pistons are flaking and look like garbage. Driver's front was OK, I cleaned them up nice. Boots, inner seal and pistons were fine. So...

I am in the process of rebuilding both brembos and in my research, Rockauto .com has new OEM pistons that come with inner seals for $40 per caliper, also for $8 you can get 4 dust seals and extra inner seals as well. $48 per Brembo and you're as good as new!

I took them off to G2 paint them and got stuck with a rebuild instead. Under $100 for a rebuild + $50 for paint is a steal!

wow that is good information indeed. I check rock auto often so I will go back. I have had pistons on the shelf for some time, but gradually they get used up with some really sad brembos. I dont think Mr Brembo ever dreamed of road salt and his parts.

The prices are funny, and as pointed out sometimes the cost of new calipers is so cheap you buy that rather than rebuild. Amazon have a killer deal but its only one side. fml.
