Cobalt vs STI

On my way home from college the other day I met up with a STI. It was bright blue and sounded like a diesel truck but how do these things stock do against our cars stock. what about bolted and tuned. We didn't race or anything I just saw the car. It was drizzling rain.

Both cars bolted and tuned will be a good race...

Both cars stock vs stock, the balt should win

I've killed all kinds of sti's from stock to fp green turboed and "60 trim" turboed one. I've also beat one that had ported everything on the stock turbo with vgt deletes. (I think that's what its called)

Im stock turbo.

A gms1 cobalt will not beat a fully bolted sti with E85. From a 40 roll the sti will pull one car or a little more. stock for stock the cobalt will win from a roll and in the 1/4 mile it would be close. A tuned and bolted ss will pull on a bolted and tuned E85 sti by a car or car and a half from a roll. In a dig if you only run a 1/4 mile it will definitely be close any further the Cobalt may be able to catch up if it doesn't lose to much on the start. an STi with a bigger then stock turbo will beat a tuned and bolted cobalt unless the cobalt is on E85 then it depends on the turbo the sti has.

So what yer' sayin is cobalt all day, lesbaru's ftl yo...

Just kiddin, love the STI's and WRX. OP that "Diesel" sound you hear is the BOXER engine. Best sounding 4 cyl IMO.
I have a buddy with a peanut eye wrex, 16g, access port tuned and some goodies and he embarasses me. He's north of 400 whp

Sounds like a fair synopsis. Win for the scooby crowd.

I wouldn't say fail for power. It just doesn't do as well on the stock turbo as a cobalt. I can still take on a very healthy amount of cars though. And on a road course a stock cobalt ss vs a stock sti the cobalt will win. auto-x would be a drivers race with the slight advantage to the sti.

I raced a WRX when I first got my cobalt. I think he just had the mufflers cut off because it sounded like a diesel to. We went from a dig and a 40 roll. I think he wasn't that good of a driver because I took it by a good amount each time but the dig race I ran off and left him twice. From a roll I pulled pretty good from the time my foot hit the carpet. I just thought the STIs were alot faster.

a 16 g turbo on a wrx is only good for mid to high 200 hp there is no way it would get near 300 let alone 400+

I thought I wanted one back in '07, until I test drove it. I thought the same thing. "I thought these things were fast."

Ok thats what I thought he had on. What is the bigger turbo then? He def has that power as I am mid 300's and he dissapears on me from a roll.
His car is a total sleeper. When I first saw it I'm like "just another guy claiming mad hp... I bet I'll win" and I got smoked. He's really a friend of a friend. He loved the TC. At first he didn't know what to think of it but later on when we were parked and having beers he got into it and snooped around. He was really impressed. Although I lost he said he hadn't had someone hang with him like that in a long long time. I beat my other buddies 5.0 so I made up for the loss against the subie.. haha He was cocky too...

either he had a 35r rotate kit or you had a boost leak, a 16g is almost the same size as a stock sti turbo
