complex issue with new ride
I previously owned a 09 with full bolt ons and tune..OK, I sold it and later realized I missed the car so I picked up a 08 with a full zzp kit on it has a borg Warner 256 on it at least I think compressor housing says 047b..There were multiple issues with the car had a exhaust manifold leak I pulled everything, and had to drill and easy out (wasn't easy sucked really bad) the head, was able to successfully get them out..I should also mention I am a technician by trade..it also had over advanced cam codes ..I fixed it it needed phasers..ran great but still seemed weird..I don't know what tune is in it obviously but it has a tial external gate with dump, and tial bov..The weird thing is it also had a recirculation valve from charge pipe too air tube, but there was no vacuum line on nipple of recirculation valve..so I figured it was stupid and needed to go..I put a straight pipe in charge pipe to elbow to replace the one that had the hole in it for recirc...The thing made tons of boost almost thirty pounds and felt right for the size of turbo that was on there..I did this because the boost would leak out recirc valve nipple under boost..my question is do I need to recirc the external bov somehow..it doesn't seem right to me because he has maf still in Stock location.. All of a sudden today it stopped making the 29psi it was making and now makes ten..and I can hear the dump is open...I should also mention that the dump at idle has vacuum on it like it could suck **** up off the road..is this normal.. where should I go from here? Sorry for long thread it's driving me nuts
Car has borg Warner big turbo
Zzp manifold
Tial waste gate/zzp open dump
Tial Bov
Zzp big intake
Hahn big front mount
Zzp cold pipe
Zzp hot pipe
When I bought car had tial bov and and external recirc going to charge pipe..
The nipple to recirc had nothing going to nipple on top......I eliminated it because I was under impression you only need either or...should I eliminate the bov and bring back recirc...does anyone ever recirculated a external bov..what is the point of both of these being on vehicle.. should I hear dump pipe all the time under acceleration sometimes I do sometime I dont...I don't get it.... enough periods?

Thats a little easier to understand. Do you have a Tial QR BOV or a Tial Q BOV? (The QR can be converted to Q)
If your MAF is pre-BOV (stock location in air intake) and not a speed density tune then you need to re-circ from the BOV since you're loosing metered air, which if you bought the car with the BOV recirc connected i'm assuming it isnt a speed density. There is no difference in how a recirc or non-recirc BOV as far as function from a pressure relief point, the only difference is where the air goes, either out of the system or back into the system.

if you have a bow off valve and the maf is in the stock location the car will over fuel every time you let of the gas, you need to get zzps maf relocation lower charge pipe, relocates the maf before the throttle body.
boost opens the wastegate, not vacuum, so it shouldnt be open at idle...

No bov can't suck anythig in at idle cause the turbo is still pushing air, so air will be pushing out of the bov , dirt won't be able to get in there . But I don't like that. Needs a stiffer spring.
No seal is perfect on a wastegate, an open dump will make any small leak pronounced. They will dump if youre under load and not requesting enough to demand boost, its a delicate balance I've heard my wastegate (internally gated still) start to dump under load but not boost
What I'm saying is the nipple on the recirc, had nothing on it I'm assuming some line was supposed to go to it from bov...but I couldn't find anything..I wish I could put a picture on here I tried too, they deleted it...anyways it's gone now and all that is there is the tial bov.. and a vacuum line going into it...it goes too this weird brass junction then back to intake manifold..When I try and take that weird brass piece I've never seen on any other car out of the equation, and connect the vacuum line from the bov to intake manifold while it's running..The valve starts to pulse and car wants to stall...it makes zero sense too me
And I said that the dump pipe off waste gate had vacuum at idle standing under car on lift...not the bov....is it normal for vacuum to be present on dump pipe at idle no load...or am I unmasking a wastegate issue..

I think the first thing OP needs to do is figure out what tune is on it. If it is an HPT tune, OP needs to buy HPT setup and go from there. Not knowing what is going on from the tuning side and starting from a point where the car was not running right to begin with leaves you chasing your tail. It is like not having a baseline.
