E47/ clutch upgrade opinions wanted

Okay the time has come. I have about 151,000 miles on original clutch. It's performing great without slipping on a zzp canned tune. I smell it sometimes but no slip. Anyhoot, gonna get an e47 tune & thinking a new clutch is inevitable in my very near future. Out of all the info I've dug up it seems like lsj clutch is the way to go. Well is it? It seems that @ crate engine depot the lnf Clutch kit is cheaper than the lsj. Is one better than the other? It also says not to use the lsj clutch on the LNF. Interested in all opinions on e47 clutch upgrade. T.I.A.

I've had 3 different clutches so far, running 23psi mystery tune. Snapped the 2nd factory clutch at 70k, 1st was replaced at 38k under warranty with trans. Put a clutchmasters stage 1 in. Faulty out the box and it only last 700 miles and the rivets fell out. Put the same one in under warranty and it lasted 40k before the rivets fell out of the hat again. This last time I went with south bend stage 4 and it's been in for a year with no issues. Chatters a bit when it warms up. I honestly don't get why I've had such bad luck with clutches because I baby the car and have never used the launch control or nls. The south bend stage for is rated for up to 350 tq and it grabs around halfway travel

Thank you for your input CObalts5. Ya, still haven't pulled the trigger on clutch yet. Just got some bridgestone potenza s-04 pp summer tires. Will be getting clutch pretty soon though. You're kind of scaring me about this whole clutch upgrade thing. Needs to be done though. Such a clutchy subject to commit to

The lsj upgrade clutch kit is a good clutch for the money. It can and has been used on lnf's as that's the one I ran on my car. As I recall the reason it's more expensive is because it's a kit, which includes the throwout bearing, etc and the lnf factory clutch doesn't.
I put down 372whp on my K04+ on e47 on that clutch. If you are going to run a zfr clutch down the road go with a higher dollar upgraded clutch. If not get the lsj upgraded one (gmpp) and be done.

If you can smell the clutch then it's slipping.

Only a matter of time at this point.

Not sure what car you have, but if LSJ, do the LSJ upgrade kit with a fresh flywheel.

I've had the LSJ upgraded clutch in my car for years. I've driven it everywhere from Manhattan during rush hour to back country roads. I actually just did a burnout this morning, haha. I can't remember when I had it put in but it was years ago and it has to have close to 100k on it by now. Still feels new.

I had the dealer install it and they had a hell of a time trying to get it bled. Also the cradle bolts were fucked. I'd strongly suggest having a GM dealer who knows what they are doing do the install. Clutches on FWD cars that have seen salt SUCK to do.

Yeah thankfully I got lucky and my control arm/ sub frame bolts came right out. I can't complain with my south bend clutch so far. I do know that the south bend clutches had a rough start with the cobalts but they have fixed the issue. I measured the clutch installed height and ended up not needing the throughput bearing spacer. I used a luk OEM style flywheel. The only thing that sucks is once the clutch warms up, it gets very grabby and wants to be on or off because the stage 4 is full ceramic disc
