Face foot sucks on foot, why?

I usually keep my air cycle on my car on defrost and foot. I don't know why, but I just usually keep it there. Well this morning I got in my car and noticed after I switched it to blow my face (haha) and foot that barely any air came out on foot. I had to put it in between face/foot and foot to get good foot, but it sucked on face. But when I keep it on Defrost foot it works great on foot and defrost. I don't get it.

You following what I'm saying so far?

I was just wondering if it's a flaw by design on our cars or if my car in specificly.

Thanks

because the the air is going to rise and the face vents are higher up.

I don't agree with this, when I keep it on defrost foot it blows out plenty of air on foot. But face foot sucks on foot

Just turn the knob in between foot and face foot and you will get some more foot.

I dunno why it sucks but it does suck much more than my old Escape did.

Foot vents are larger, when the air has to travel to both vents, your dividing up the volume of air being pushed. If you have it only on face, it will blow stronger than on face+foot as you are getting full air volume to the face vents.

This is incorrect. The A/C is only engaged if you have it on defrost (or feet/defrost).

Just put in on your feet on high for a while and then the rest of the car will warm up.

nope.....he was correct...... on just feet it kicks on the compressor . Turn it one notch off feet toward the face vents .....listen to the motor when you turn it on feet only..... you can feel and hear the motor pull down.

I guarantee the A/C kicks on with defrost. Maybe your car is a freak, but the compressor does not kick on for heat coming out on the floor in my car.

this has been proven. its a flaw in the selector switch from GM. i've proven it with a tech 2 that when its just on the foot selection it thinks you want the defrost as well and kicks in the A/C. if you put it one knotch to the left it doesn't. i've tested this with 2 brand new from GM units and 5 other brand new cobalts, they all do it. doesn't matter if its a base or an ss/sc. don't know if they fixed it or not with the ss/tc but i'm confident they didn't

You can tell the compressor is on when you have it set for feet only because you aren't able to use recirculate. You have to turn it a little toward face before the recirculate button will work

I tried this on my 2009 and it doesn't sound like the AC is coming on.
