I don't doubt they're decent _ it think they're a nascar sponsored brand... but as much flak as has been directed towards fram, they're pretty much an industry standard...

agreed but if you were to compare the 2 the wix has double the filter elements. but everyone has their preferences. like i would prefer to get the ac delco over both

not all filtering elements are equal... just saying...

and I have used wix...

I would prefer delco or purolator - but I'm not driving to bowness auto for oil filters (very reasonably priced there btw) ~ and I know of no one selling the delco for a reasonable price locally...

ya i can still get the delco's at my employee rate from when i worked at ****. i'm just too lazy to drive all the way up there to get 1 filter. its not worth my time or gas for that matter to save a few bucks.

The part number is M1C-151. I have used this filter my car's entire life, and have had no problems whatsoever.

any of you just change the filter and not the oil?

i've read some people will use full syn, then just change the filter out after 5k miles or so, and top the oil off if it needs any.

And I've heard that some people jump infront of moving busses...

Just saying...

Maybe if you're on a short lease ~ and not worried about wrecking something... other wise that's stupid beyond comprehension.

around here, you're lucky if you can find the delco oil filter's for under $20 ~ the Fram oil filter's are around $9

That's usually Amsoil and usually on 15k oil change intervals. I think those people are crazy...

Personally I think its beter to use a good oil and change it more frequently than to use a really awesome oil and change it when its damn near its end of usefullness... I like a little safety cushion in there.

Soooo I change my oil and filter at 40% oil life or so. I use Mobil 1 and AC Delco filters exclusively. Is it the absolute best you can buy? No... but it works damn well for my purposes.

I might be intersted ~ but I'm not worried about it... I mean I could pick them up when I'm state-side....
I just think some of the anti 'brand-x' is mostly talk...

the think is that oil might still have some "life" left in it when it's changed ~ but no filters will pull out all the particulate ~ and it's the particulate that does a lion's share of the damage.
(the other being the fact that the oil can no longer protect bearings and what not when you push it)
In the end, if you're leasing - you might be able to get away with it ~ but if you have your car with the intent of keeping around for the long haul... this is plain stupid.

and what side of the 49th parallel might you live on?

all free trade did was remove some tarrifs ~ otherwise it's a myth.

there are mutliple examples of items that are significantly cheaper state-side...

which is why I generally max out the amount that I'm aloud to bring back into Canada without surcharges/taxes ect...
(and why I have a small stash of new car parts sitting in my basement)

relax guy, i may of over estimated the intervals, i know i've read of people just changing out filters ever 3k miles and the oil every 6k miles. full synthetic is capable of lasting that long. but i've seen a few extreme cases where people will use the same oil for longer periods.

If its any conciliation to you, we use fram filters at walmart for oil changes.

I would ONLY use a Fram TOUGH GUARD in a pinch, if I absolutely had to, as long as you never use the basic orange fram.

I do Mobil 1 Syn and the AC Delco filter. They run about $9 at Walmart here. Can't complain it's worked for me.

I can't believe you guys spend so much on oil filters.
I get delco for about 1 buck each. But, That's the perks of working at the dealership right?

pay attention to Mavens post. BITOG should explain oil, changes, not to make them too often, and the GM alogorithm for the oil change intervals how it was developed, and how it works. GM oil life monitor is , simplu put, the standard of the industry. Its that good.
