GMS1 Install

Ok here is my dilemma guys, I called the service department where I bought my car asking if they'd ever done the GMS1 upgrade and the guy acted like he'd never even heard of it.

Needless to say they've never done one. My question is, should I still trust them to do the install even though they have no experience with it?

Well i didn't trust mine and they screwed it up but worked until it was fixed.

Most shops could do it, just need to make sure they solder the wires not cheap out.

You will probably be fine.

Its a gamble. I mean its mainly soldering some wires, but one of them is a pita to get at I hear. Do you have any other dealers close by?

If you talked to someone in the parts department there probably pretty clueless. I had the same issue but I talked to my service manager and he got me a good install price and they did a great job. I believe they had done only one other one a year or so prior and on a solstice.

Ok well I haveta take it in for the first oil change soon, I'll see if I can talk to the service manager and get something worked out so I can take it in to them with confidence.

Its not supposed to take more than 2hrs of shop time to install right? I don't want them to charge me out the ass just because they are inexperienced with GMS1.

Mine was the first one done at my dealer. Everything came out ok but they said it took him most of the day to do it. I was quoted 2 hours and that's what they charged me so you should be fine.

No,

read my story about the dealer who had no clue how to work on my GMS1....do your homework and go somewhere that has done a few.
