heres one to stump you (turbo)

okay so my issue is stemming from an oil issue with a k04 , the k04 is on my friends Mazda speed 3 and we recently installed an after market down pipe, a week later the car began to smoke like i have never seen before and i did some research and came to the conclusion it was the turbo seal (car has 150,000 on it) ..... i went ahead and ordered a rebuild kit and than we took apart the turbo and noticed the seals were worn out so we both thought Great!! got it all back together and there was no change in the smoke issue

the Mazda forums say it can be caused by the downpipe which i find hard to beleive because none of us have this issue when installing a downpipe on our cars

i looked into pcv issues and everything but the the turbo still smokes under boost???

what do you guys think

Are we talking a lot of smoke?

Only reason I ask is maybe it was burning oil before but it was getting caught in the cat instead of pouring out the exhaust tip.

IDK, our cars don't have an issue like this when the install is done right.

And don't Mazda 3's have an issue with smoking?

Well maybe there is still oil in the exhaust that hasn't burned off yet. Clean out down pipe as much as u can.

Yes but there are multiple versions of the K04 and I believe manufactured by multiple people.

I doubt the flanges are the same on either side. If you really want that, just use the cobalt wheel and tune it lol
