high rise/low rise...
high rise/low rise...
hey balters...
i've had my 09' tc for about 3 weeks now and i gotta say sweeeet. i own vettes and this has got to be as fun too!
anywho, i talked to my insurance agent and he said if i purchased a sedan my insurance would have been $19 cheaper per mo. because it is a sedan!! now the crazy thing is... from what i 've read, the sedan goes faster than the coupe - top speed(road and track/motor trend) 146mph coupe - 156 mph sedan. i ask...is it the high rise that is slowing it down? would my coupe be faster because i have the low rise? i do understand the down force on the high rise does contribute to slower speeds...(we have raced before and that is how we adjusted the down force speed control) on our track cars...
gentlmen? (and ladies) any input?
sorry...i think i am in general lnf...i meant to put this in the tech section!!

Coupe - Faster then the sedan
I beat a c5 convertible from a 70 roll and thought i was going to lose. he shifted down the same time i did and we didn't upshift before we ran out of road, so that's not true.
Vice Versa, it will help drag racing... not on the track...
Your not going fast enough, on the corners for it to make a difference....
Either way, on a FWD car unless you going over 200mph.... I wouldn't worry about it at all....
I would be worrying about, if a Tire Blows
We have some roads out here in the CFL you can max out about anything but a Veyron. Check it. Had my SRT on the other side of 160, a vette and my bike in the 180's, etc...
Oh man...I remember this debate on the srtforums about 2 years go...epic...
There is most likely some R&D into the high-wing (there was on the Neon SRT-4 when it came out). It did clean up some air flow issues on the back end, but nothing that any of us are going to notice on a day to day basis. I'm sure it provides some downforce at high speeds...how much...don't know that one.

It stated the downforce was just over 23 lbs. @ 70mph.
Just over 70lbs. @ 130mph
Just over 115lbs @ 150mph
I think what you all are discovering is just basic stuff the dealer already knew.

I saw on another thread not long ago some information posted by a member.

That is that it's just a matter of personal opinion. I have the high rise. It's fine by me. I only hit top speed once just to check it out and don't ever plan on doing it again. I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about. Just bragging rights?

i did speak to the r&d guys and they said it puts 420 -460 pounds of down force at top speed (high wing @146)
i wasn't fussing...just cutious if there was/is a difference between the high and low rise. plus i was stating that the 4 - door is faster top end by 10 miles per hour and cheaper in insurance...crazy
