to paraphrase:

GMPD took an innovative approach to the gutsy four-cylinder. Instead of tuning to a prescribed boost level, the ECU targets a constant torque number using a variable boost strategy.

Ambient air temperature and absolute air pressure are two of the main tuning parameters. So on a cool night with dense air the turbo may only need to produce 13 psi to hit the mark. But on a hot summer day it will unleash up to 21 psi in its efforts to deliver the goods
Ok that makes perfect sense, seeing that the air is colder and thus has more density, it doesn't require the same amount of boost for warmer air with less density to make the same power...

Not quite sure on those cars, but the majority of new cars have adaptive pcms.

It was 33 degrees this morning in Pennnsylvania and I was making 16.5 psi in 2nd gear which is lower than on a warmer day. I'm usually making 18.5 to almost 20psi.

08 SS T/C, Victory Red, LSD, High Wing spoiler, sunroof.

see lol, us young ppl dun know things like absolute air pressure, we've never been taught these things, GM just does it all for us in a computer and we put the pedal to the floor

Doesnt this also mean that with the installation of a more efficient air intake(anything other than the hideous black box) that the horsepower and torque will not increase at all due to the computer noticing more efficient air flow? There for meaning that unless you get tuned an intake is basically pointless?

yup that is 100% right, thus why u have not seen anyone release an intake for the ss/tc yet........it has to flow 100% like stock or else your losing power, the intake will only be for sound until u can tune it........

ENGLISH: Yes... man.... My 2008 SS Turbocharged has also been doing the same. It differs greatly in power and when it is cold outside I only get 13 PSI... ding*

Today after the car had been sitting for a few days about 3 days I boosted into the upper 17-18 to 19 PSI range never hitting 20 and then it falls back down to the 16 range. Not sure why...
