Solid metal pleat (should only be one, where the filter is wrapped and meets itself) should be positioned at 12:30 if I remember correctly. Hope that helps.

Yes it matters. It severely affects how the MAF is skewed. Last I heard, you're supposed to put the thicker side facing up, so the logo will be upside down I think.

rotate it more upwards. When I checked fuel trims around that position, they were waaaay positive if I remember correctly. You probably exceeded +18.0% LTFT and set a CEL.

Yes, the metal pleate that connects the filter material should be positioned around 12:30 (and the K&N logo on the front will be upside-down).

I, personally, have it set up the complete opposite for looks But I was able to tune my fuel trims to accomodate it that way. Not recommended unless you will be spending A LOT of time fine tuning the fuel trims.

Skewed fuel trims are why I'm doing dual interceptors before I do my intake.

I can't seem to get my fuel trims below +13 with the K&N. They were at +2 with the stock intake. I've tried rotating the filter to almost every position and it doesn't seem to matter. I'm planning on getting a retune hopefully soon.

You got the intake after you were initially tuned by Trifecta?

That is most likely why it skewed so much. What I've read and experienced myself is, installing the Typhoon intake on a completely stock balt doesn't skew the trims so much when the filter is positioned to 12:30 (The metal pleat in the filter). BUT, if you've been tuned with the stock box or even another intake, rotating the filter will do nothing to help your trims. It's been tuned specifically for your previous setup and will need to be retuned again.

Again, this is just what I've experienced and read.

I asked Vince @Trifecta about this and he claims I shouldn't need a re-tune unless I feel it not running right. I have no way to check my fuel trims so I guess I won't know unless I feel it running rough.

Yeah, I was already Trifecta tuned. I wouldn't be that worried about it, but I am getting some knock. Not very often, but still getting some. Maybe it's because the best gas around here is 91 octane. I'm just going to retune to make sure it's all good. It's worth it.

It probably won't hurt anything, but I don't like to trust "probably".

The fuel trims are gonna go out at least a little bit no matter what. It'll be fine unless they are WAY out.

Haha, it's so addicting to hear that wooosh and pssshhh!

What are you using to watch them? Personally, (and this is just my opinion again), I wouldn't want my LTFT's to be outside of +/-4. But I am a bit of an **** OCD perfectionist and I keep mine within +/-1.8 lol.
