I would check to make sure the new intake isn't vibrating/hitting something caused by rpm or load.

When you start the engine cold it runs "open loop", as in very rich with a corresponding amount of air, till it warms up a little, like 100 degrees plus or minus, and goos closed loop. During that time the intake is sucking huge amounts of air and you may be hearing the noise associated with that rushing air. As the engine goes closed loop the RPM's go down and the noise goes away. At least that's how MINE operates.

Yeah, during cold start up I can definately here the "open looped" lol. but this noise is different. I would associate it more with the noise you get from the rear breaks grinding. And everything is very much so secured, lol.

with an sri you'll hear some "new noises" that were muffled by the stock intake. If it sounds like a cross between a dog bark and a duck quack you're fine.

The sad thing is I know exactly what you're talking about. Sometimes on hard pulls it sounds like I'm kicking a small dog every time I shift.

lol, yeah, I hear that noise coming from the BPV during a hard run

Again the grinding noise is kinda faint but its there, It seems to be coming from the compressor wheel. Im not losing boost or having trouble building it up, so Im gonna ignore the noise and just think that it might have always been there but muffled from the plastic OEM intake system.

I've not had the luxury of having an aftermarket intake ... but i can imagine what it must sound like. I'm not a mechanic.. but its sound is probably increased due to the route of the intake.

Any vids of this intake on your car yet??

hahha, dude I so wish the BPV was separate from the turbo, then I could put that Forge I had on... freakin ninja swords clashing or mario getting a coin is what its described as. Uhhh I cant wait for a intake. I can drive by people walking their dogs and shift so they think my car eats dogs

no no vids yet, I took pics and threw them up on my face book, lol. I also posted the pics while I was installing them with the "problem" I got. THey should be in this thread a page back or so.

Honestly, it sounds just like the same as that one video someone posted on here a bit ago. but i'll make a video this afternoon. my mods are, CIA catted DP and a K&N intake, lol.

So it is off about the same as a Hahn intake or the old AEM intake design.

Not sure to be honest it might have been for the stock airbox mod.

But I'll throw the stock ecu back in tonight and I'll see what it is

I just watched my fuel trims for a 50 min drive home from work.
ltft = 7.0
stft = anywhere between -6.0 to +7.8, spiked to 11.4 at least 3 times. spiked to 20.0 once.

I've noticed that the massive changes in fuel trim depend on when I push the pedal down or let off. I think there is a direct correlation there. Letting off the gas seems to always get me to -6.7 to -8.0. then it calms back up to 0.0 (no throttle = no fuel consumption, lol or something like that) Throttle gives me just the opposite and then it too corrects itself. When I hold the throttle at a certain speed without bouncing my foot, the stft's try to correct themselves and stay somewhere around -0.7 to 1.5. not bad. That is my analysis.

My hahn sits at -0.8 to -1.8 at idle.... at crusing speeds they are at -3.0 to -5.0 all STFTs

My LTFTs seem to hoover right around -1 to -4.6

for what it's worth the car runs and pulls great with it on... so I am happy with it...

oh yeah well at idle it sits at basically zero but bounces sometimes between -0.7 and 1.5 lol. The car sounds great and runs pretty good too! It also sounds cool when NLS. I dont think this intake is that bad. I still hear that grinding noise though, Im wondering if its actually just the vacuum noise im hearing when the circuit is OPen? sound like it kinda.

Well I just re-installed the intake, the noise is still there. I think Im being paranoid because now im certain the noise is just the sound of air being sucked into the intake, lol.

oh And DISCOVERY! I rotated the offset filter so that the bulge of the filter goes right and now my fuel trims are no longer in the positive. My ltft's = -3.9 (from 7.0)
and my stft's range from -3.0 to 1.0 cruising. boy was that quite the discovery.

thats the way I did have it. It was giving me positive fuel trims. Then I rotated it 90 degrees so the bulge part of the filter was away from the engine and I got negative fuel trims. lol.

Im trying a 45 degree angle and see what happens next. I loved the negative fuel trims. very responsive!

It's a hardware tuneable intake! Just twist the filter and go! lol
