Sorry. I don't mean to thread jack, but I wanted to say that I've got a similar issue.

I've got knocking noises coming from the center of my dash. It's right where the air conditioner is. When I took it to a Chevy dealership earlier this year, they said some **** about how my car being parked outside in the hot CA sun might've caused my dash to expand slightly and the clips or some **** are knocking.
Idk if I buy that, but it doesn't bother me too much. It only does it on cold starts and cold weather days. When the engine warms up or the day is hot already, the knocking goes away.

Also, it only happens around 1500-1900 rpm and then again from 2300-2700 rpm. Any other rev range, it doesn't do it (as loudly, maybe?).

Another Chevy mechanic told me, "It's GM build quality, dude. Sometimes you've got to deal with it."
