Howdy everyone! I'm looking into getting a new Cobalt SS either 08 or 09. The one dealership around me has an 08 model and just got an 09 model in as well. I know the 09 has LSD and is basically fully decked out as the Price tag is 25,300. The 08 which has nothing mentioned about LSD is 24,075 (did 08's come with LSD?). Obviously this is not with the employee discount. lol. I want what is best for me in the long run as I am looking to do some autox and road course racing later on when the car is broken in just right! How much different is the car without LSD? Would it worth to just get the 09 instead? Hopefully I soon have one! Its hard to pick between a Speed 3 and Cobalt!

 

With a front-drive car packing as much power and torque as the SS/TC you NEED the LSD, especially if you're planning on doing Auto-X. Also, I wouldn't recommend anyone getting a 2008 at this point unless the dealer offers a really big incentive; it's the end of the year and the car may be brand new, but 5 years down the road when you want to sell if your car will have that extra year of depreciation on it even if it was only driven for 2 months.

 

Well, is LSD even offered on the 08 models cause on Chevy's website there is no option for it.

 

Yes. LSD is a $495 option and was offered on the 08 Cobalt SS Turbocharged. Yeah you have to order the option at an actual dealership.

Also the differences between the 08 & 09 are slight.

The 09 SS/TC offers for $295 the Reconfigurable Performance Display (RPD) which is a small screen that is in place of the stock analogue boost gauge on the A-Pillar.

You can also get blue-tooth connectivity & a USB port ($100 option) on 09MY's
