Nav an option for 2009?

Onstar Turn-by-Turn navigation rocks and I will tell you why.
-You use the stock radio and therefore you dont have a big screen or windscreen mount that attracts theives to your car. ( I know 7 people that got there GPS stolen this year alone) But of course people want there pretty color screens.
-You never have to worry about updates cause onstar is always updating it I have never had a place that it couldnt find especially all other GPS systems I have tested can not even find my apartment cause its brand new.
-Onstar can keep track of your destinations so you dont have to tell them the address every time and every person I talked to at onstar has been on top of there game and if I am going to some place that needs reservations they will make them for me and then setup my nav.
-The system is hands free and so if you have to switch destinations in the middle of driving there is only one button that you need to push. With most GM stock Color nav systems you cant do anything while the vehicle is in motion and I have a feeling this will be come more and more common now that GPS is taking off.
Bad things about the system
-Its an extra fee on top of the onstar subscription about 28 bucks a month all together. I worked out a deal to have them give me a year nav with the free onstar but I will pay for it once that year is up.
-It uses the stock radio therefore since we our a very visual race we want everything in color and have pretty graphics and very bubbly.
-Its not advertised so who knows how long onstar and GM will offer it before they dump it I didnt even know it had this feature until I was sitting down at the dealer looking at the onstar card.
-When you go off route it gets kind of annoying asking if you want to update every minute. WHich you just answer yes or no but it just gets annoying.
-You have to learn a few different commands to preview the route and so on but they give you a card I just dont use it enough to memorize them and just keep them in my glove box.

I'm kinda glad there's no option for Nav, I would want it if it was offered, but I wanted to get my order in faster, so I ordered figuring if the nav came out I'd get it as a dealer added option later. Glad I get to avoid that mess of expeditures though.

The largest drawback to turn by turn is that while they tell you distance to turn and name of street to turn on, there is no visual turn icon on the radio. Sure they tell you over the speakers which way to turn, but they still need a visual indicator because while I've used it w/ windows down sometimes the sound gets drown out by the cars/trucks around me.

I had navigation in my 06 Spec b, 07 Audi A3 and my 07 Civic Si and they all sucked! Sure they all
were pretty but the store bought ones seem to be better because you can easily upgrade the maps online via usb cable...

Its ok - I tried it on the trip home from VA to NC and it took me the LONG way - added almost 30 minutes to the trip. I dont like having to talk to a real person to enter the address though...
I wont be renewing the onstar or directions, although I really really like the hands free phone feature...
