So you're saying that because of the temperature, he is running less boost but the same amount of HP right?

well he said he does not have a tune so I believe the learn down feature will still be in effect so then yeah, if I understand correctly. Thats why I put a question mark after because i was kinda asking if that is correct.

obviously..... ohh and nice GLI i have one to but im selling it to get an ss/tc .
if only GM didnt have the learn down function youd be boosting at 15 and be so much faster. I guess that kinda is a good thing though considering that there would be more "snow took another victim" threads.

id be taking it easy on your car when its frigid... I try to stay out of boost entirely....i mangled a syncro on a brisk shift in my WRX with an ambient temp of -1 degrees. make extra careful shifts, and watch out for axle hop, everything is more brittle in the cold.

Not to one up someone but it was -10 last week and I saw only 9 psi and yesterday as I was leaving my second job I floored it and bearly touched 5 psi. I was thinking the same thing. "Am I really getting 260hp off of 5 psi??"

Cold air is denser so more air fits in the same volume. Its the ideal gas law.
Pi Vi / Ti = Pf Vf / Tf
Pi = Initial absolute pressure (kPa), 230kPa ~ 33 psi
Vi = Initial volume (L), this doesn't change and is fixed ignore it
Ti = Initial temperature (K), 300K ~ 80F
Pf = Final absolute pressure (kPa)
Vf = Final volume, same as Vi
Tf = Final temperature (K), 250K ~ -10F
Pf = (Pi x Tf) / Ti = (230 x 250) / 300 ~ 192 kPa ~ 27.8 psia - 14.7 psi ~ 13.1 psig
I estimated and rounded the numbers but it should be close. Also you don't get full boost until the engine is warmed up.

Thought the same thing. It did feel like the car was doggish though.. But it was probably just me looking at the gauge and thinking 7psi = slow.
