Weird, I don't notice any delay. Do you mean something else? What kind of pressures did you run?

After 35000 miles I finally junked my stock Conti's this fall when putting my winter tires on. They were to worn for another season. Now Im looking for something new to get this spring. I hear a lot of good things about the BFG KDW's and the Nitto NT05s.... but theres soooo many choices, good thing I have a month to decide! lol

 

How many miles have u put on them. Hoping to get 20k out of them

 

i had them on another car, and they are the best tire hands down(bridgestone RE-11). the kdw is a good tire and looks nice, but i have never used them.

 

I have some achilles tires on mine. they are nice and quiet and grip alright, i can still roast the hell out of them on the 1-2 and they are new.

 

How the hell did you get 35K out of the Contis? Mine were done at 9K.

 

Rotated them a LOT! I did a good amount of spinning them too, even ran them at the track about 15times. Just took care of them I guess lol.

EDIT: Like I said in my post above though, I do run snow tires... so not ALL 35k were on the Conti's, they probably had at least 20-25k though cause I do MUCH more driving in the good weather. I only run the snows from November-February.

 

The kdw2 NT is what I have. They always talk to me on the road and you can tell when they are gonna break loose.

 

If you rotate them regularly you'll get 20k easy. The previous owner had a few thousand on mine before I got them. I have since put 15k on top of what he had on them. I have been extremely hard on these tires too, driving aggressively, running low pressures in them consistently. I am just now getting to the wear bars on the front two. I bet if I rotate them again I can get another 5-8k out of them before they are done in.

Rs3 great for AutoX but have to stay warm. Good to have a co driver.

 

there awesome had them almost a year got about 9k on them with two track days and one mini track day probably got another 3k or so left and 1 maybe 2 more track days left there great in the heat but suck in the rain lol

 

I have these and am a big fan. Good dry handling/traction and awesome in the rain. Tread life has been pretty good and the best part is they are cheap

 

I am looking for new tires aswell. For the last 20k or so miles I have had the falken 512's in 245/40-18 and they have been great for the price. The traction was and is better than stock but I contribute that to size difference. I drive the car so little as it is and had my mind made up I was going to go and get the BFG KDW2's since I missed a rotation and 2 of the tires were pretty bad off. When I got to discount tire they looked at the two bad tires and warranted them on the certs for $15ea so I did that. What this does is allow these tires to give me enough time to finish my daily driver and the cobalt will never see rain or temps below 60 or so again. So now i'm not concerned with a tire that doesn't do well with inclement weather. Since I will mostly likely not exceed 1k miles a year I don't mind spending more money and only have to by them every few years. I want something that will be great for the street and autocross. Im not really worried about the drag strip do to the fact I have drag radials for that. I have read TONS of reviews and there is about the same amount of negative info all everything I look at. Its hard to trust consumer reviews these days. Im not sure if I want to go with the KDW2's(which I have never tried) or go another route.

so far ive been on my nitto nt555's for about 2 weeks. i love them. they hook so well, i barely spin 2nd gear when its warm out, and i make tons of torque. i have 255 35 18's tho.

 

ok....I had the KDW 2...only on the front...was after wrecked my car and the body shop put them on....If I remember right...I ran 33 up front and 35 rear...like I normaly do....and a few times I had 35 all around....its kinda hard to describe....since I drove to LA everyday from ventura....i know PCH very well...before I wrecked the balt...it handeled great..now I know that yes the car will be different AFTER any damage....but after those tires were installed it didnt have the snap responce like it did with other tires....I even rotated them to the rear to see any difference....there was but then it felt like the rear wasa lil slow....inflating them to like 42 helped somewhat but made the ride a lil harsher...so I'm not bashing them....for wet weather they were pretty good....but dry I wasnt that impressed....the Bridgestone 760's I have on now are great....good bite dry...ok in the wet...wouldnt get too wild...lol...and working at a store that sells tires...i have a good chance to see the different options out there....I had looked at the handcooks...goodyear...and a few other brands....but a friend of mine who has a BMW M3 had a set and took me for a ride...THATS what sold me....lol...hope this helps and good luck with your choice...

 

What did you end up getting?

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, what kind of driving do you do (auto-x, hpde, time attack, none of the above) because there is no one best tire for all.

 

I got Federal SS-595 tires. They are dirt cheap for UHP summer tire (around $80 a tire) But they offer good dry traction and last a while for a 240 tread wear rating, if you keep them rotated that is. It's my current autocross tire also and I've done very well on them in my region compared to guys running the more mainstream autocross tires., though I'm looking to upgrade to some star specs or something similar in the future.
