well iv been searching for some tires that are quality yet not to pricy and i went to dunntire today and from what they say this brand called Kelly Fierce UHP's are supposed to be better then the goodyear Eagle GT tires they sell. and they are even cheaper then the eagle gt's. For all 4 tires mounted and balanced with the road hazard program and after tax my quote was 605$ not counting the 5% discount they are going to give me for working at napa. Anyone herd of these tires or has anyone used them on there car. I havt found many reviews for them and tire rack doest distribute them so i couldt get a review from them either.

 

I got a set of 235/40/ZR18 BFG TA KDW2s from DiscountTireDirect.com for 700ish. I've never heard of Kelly Fierce tires before. IMO when it comes to tires NEVER cheap out.

 

Exactly. I agree with that 100%. It's the ONLY thing holding you to the road. I've done both with buying some cheapies and some good name-brand tires. It's nearly always the case that the cheapies have SOMETHING that goes wrong OR just isn't up to par with other tires.
I've had Kuhmo, Avon, BFG, Goodyear, Douglas, Yokohama, Nitto... probably some others.

I know I didn't list specific tires which makes a difference. But for the ones I had. I would rank them like this,
1 Yokohama
2 BFG
3 Nitto
4 Goodyear
5 Kuhmo
6 Avon
7 Douglas

If you are looking for mediocre generic tires, then those might do the trick. If you want tires that actually grip, go with a brand name - you will spend more than $600 on them. Look at $200+ a tire for something actually worth it.

However decide what you are looking for - do you want extreme grip, high mileage or something in between? Summer only, 3 season (like stock), or all-season?

I personally chose Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, better grip than the stock tires, I found them to be good in the wet and light slush, all season, and have a 40k mile warranty.

 

I've been looking at tires too because I'm about to get some rims pretty soon. The best bang for the buck I've seen are the BF Goodrich Sport tires. They have a decent treadwear of 340 (better than the KDWs) and in our tire size they are $580 for all 4.

I used to have Yokohama S-Drive's on my last car. I had to get rid of those with the car. But they were my favorite tire I've ever had by a long shot. I just needed some all-seasons right now to get by. The S-Drives are summer only.

 

I just got Cooper's not bad for the price bout 130 a piece

yea the general exclaim uhp are pretty good tires i ran them on my grand prix gt and i couldnt even spin em in the rain

 

those michellins are great, i looked up tireracks review and they have a 500treadwear. and the dry traction is way better. there 202 a tire still but its a couple bucks cheaper then stock ones and hey you cant beet the warranty and the great treadware rating.

 

I don't know if I would go with "performance" Kelly brand tires. I had a set of Kelly tires on my first Blazer...they were supposed to be 40k mile tires...15k into them they were so bouncy and crappy and out of wack that they were undrivable. Tried to have them balanced...no luck...just all around crappy tires and Kelly wouldn't cover them either even though they were rotated every 6k just like they were supposed to be. I'll never buy Kelly brand again that's for sure. Luckily for me this was back when I first got my license so my dad was nice enough to buy me some Dunlop Rovers and those were marvelous!

In any case...Tires aren't the part of your car you want to cheap out on...when they are unevenly warn and causing vibrations at 55mph+ at only half the tires expected life...you'll be kicking yourself.

BTW when the he11 is Goodyear going to make the Eagle F1 Supercar tires in our size?!?!

i went to go price up those michellins and wow are they expensiv . online there like 202 a tire, and at dunntire by my house there 258 a tire, however they come with free mount and balancing and thery come with the road hazard program so i guess thats not to bad. i just need 2 of them for now anyhow so im gonna save till the end of the month and get 2 of them. They do however have to order them though. But for 560 something you cant beet the 500treadwear and the outstanding grip etc. ill just keep those on the back until the conti's i have in the front are done, and then just rotate them.

 

605 for 4 **** ass tires? i got a set of goodyear eagle GT's for my old car before i got rid of it and it ran me 545 mounted and balanced....i do work for sears auto but even still my discount is only 10% so it saved me tax?

 

If price is an issue go for kuhmos but you can get good tires for that price you got quoted.
