NLS popping noise

So i've been working on the NLS in the mornings on the way home from work at 5am. I start from a dead stop, I've got it in competitive mode and I launch. I've got the stereo all the way down, driver side window is also down. I shift at about 5900ish and get no popping noise at all. The turbo gauge doesnt drop pressure at all. It stays rock steady at 18psi.

Is this odd or is anyone else not getting the popping noise?

hes not getting the popping noise he said. I havent tried it enough to notice if I get that noise or not, but I think you get the noise when you are close to the redline or hit the redline. I dunno how turbos function 100% so I dont really even know what the pop noise is. unburned fuel coming out the tail pipe igniting?

I know for a fact that I NLS properly (boost gauge doesn't drop at all, smooth shift) and I've yet to hear the pop... With the windows down I think the rushing air and engine/induction roar drown out its sound. Maybe try doing one through a tunnel or have someone standing on the street behind the car listen for it.

When you get the pop you will hear it with the windows up even kinda like a fairly loud backfire.

Yeah, when it pops you'll hear it for sure, with the windows down it would be hard to miss.

Try to shift at 6100 and you will get the pop, when I was stock that is where I shifted and got the pop every time. But since I am tuned I shift at 58-5900 to stay in the power better and dont get the pop ever, but as soon as I go to around 61-6200 I will get the pop.

Yeah, sometimes I get a pop and sometimes I don't think I do even though everything else points to a successful NLS. In addition to that pop, I also like the burble you get in first and maybe second when coasting or coasting down a hill between 2k and 3k RPM or when you shift out of first around 3k RPM under light throttle.

If you want to hear the pop, just shift at 6,300.

If you want to hear it better if it does happen get a muffler delete. In my car sometimes it pops and sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time lately when I've tried to NLS I hear what sounds like the serpentine belt squeaking and I have no idea why.

I've found that NLSing after 6grand I grind the **** out of 2nd gear sometimes. Either it's my bouncing off the limiter, me not having the clutch in all the way, or my synchroids are already jacked up. Only have 9k miles on the car.

Any other suggestions on the grinding?

You're not pressing the clutch to the floor? Obviously it will grind if the clutch isn't fully engaged before shifting.
