There's a really nice road that turns into an on ramp on my morning commute and I had a chance today to fly thru the S turns there. HUGE improvement in handling, I dont even care if I get 5K to these, I will be buying again

Where are people buying them from? Discount tire direct usually has some good prices but it seems like people are 50 less than that if not more in some cases.

Last year when I was shopping replacement tires for the stock ContiSportContact 2 I was looking at the NT-05, the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, and the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 and ended up going with the Dunlops and couldn't be happier. Having done quite a bit of street driving as well as drag racing and auto-X they've performed great and seem to be wearing fairly well. The sidewall is stiffer and the 235/40-18 size I bought it technically too big for the stock wheels and caused a small increase in torque steer but the handling and grip more than make up for it.

Later this summer I'm going to pick up another set of wider 8" wheels and try a 245/35-18 tire as the overall diameter is pretty close to stock. I'm leaning towards the new Hankooks but will probably shop the Nittos again and see if they're offering that size yet. When the Dunlops wear out on the stock wheels they'll be getting another set and kept for track use.

I just had a nice new shiny set of NT 555's put on yesterday,235/40/18.I have had several sets
of Nitto's over the years, and I think they are a great "bang fo the buck" tire.I eyeballed the NT-05's and just wanted a longr lasting tire.

I've got the Dunlop Direzzas in 235/40/18, and they are F****IN awesome! I dont doubt that the nittos are probably 99% as good for probably 80% of the price, so probably a better bargain.

Not sure about tread life though. I've got 10k on my Direzzas on the front, and they're just about at the wear markers. I drive the **** out of my car too, Term2 tune, used to be able to spin in 3rd with stock tires haha. I'm about to switch them to the rear cause the rears are about 95% tread still. I think 16k isn't out of the question for the whole set. I may try the Nittos next just to compare... I think they're a great tire, and offered in a shitload of sizes!

The NT-05 is an autocross tire. You need to get heat into it before it grips properly. You also have to remember that it's meant for lateral grip, not drag racing.

I'll be throwing on a set of Kumho XS when my Contis are done.
