P/s recall and k&n
Hey guys I'm taking my 09 in for the P/S recall next week and wondering if I should remove my K & N SRI as well as knowing if anyone else has had any issues similiar?I don't believe I have to worry about my downpipe as I understand its a motor being changed but not sure.thanks
No, if it doesn't cause the actual problems of why your getting warranty work done then you have nothing to worry about. Besides its a recall so nothing they can do about it. They have to do it.
But they can flag it for future problems that it was modified. The magnuson moss thing does not really work like people think. I have seen many warranties voided. The worst was a guy bought a camaro ss and blew the diff. Even tho he was on the road and the car only had 1200 miles the voided it and said it was abuse.
Well I've never had any problems and you are protected for the magnuson-moss act. If the dealership gives you a problem for it then they are just being complete ass hole then.
"Some dealerships may say 'just because you have a [cold air] intake or something' that the whole vehicle warranty is voided," explains Loren Wong, Edmunds associate business analyst and a former warranty administrator for BMW and Acura. "That's not true."
The saving grace for consumers is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. The act states that a dealer must prove that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage."

I've had my car in twice with a catless DP, k&n sri, and injen CP. The techs love the car and always ask me about it lol. I always make sure to throw the stock tune back on it though, just in case. The service manager at the dealership that I go to told me- "any parts that don't change the way the vehicle operates won't void your warranty"
It does depend on the dealer..... If you are unfamiliar with the dealership or do not have any personal experience with them ..... I would take the time to put it back to stock . Taking the cat off the car is a big no no to a dealer.... and opens up a whole bunch of excuses they can make down the road if something big happens .
People will say they were fine taking there's in with this or that , but you are honestly taking a gamble if you go in with that stuff on . All's they have to do is note in the work order that you have this or that .....and it's attached to your Vis file till the warranty is up.

Benefits of having a buddy thats a tech at the stealership..
Gotta love it
I'm sure you will be fine man I wouldn't stress it, I'd keep everything you have on untill they argue with you that something
that you have on the car caused it, then return it back to stock but untill ^ happens I wouldn't worry

They can't say anything because it is a recall that is being done...a safety issue that they were told to fix regardless of other things done to the vehicle. Also my understanding is this motor is under the steering column so why would they even need to lift the hood to see that you have a SRI on it
ugh you guys. They can and could take notes of any mods on the car, into the computer. So if a future problem exists that could of been affected by that mod they have documentation. Its so much easier to just go to stock. What does it take 30 min?
I have two dealers I drive by all the time. One is in Delaware the other is by my home in Maryland. I bought the car from the one in MD. I asked them about modifications on the car and they told me not to do it. However my experience with this dealer up here in Delaware, the techs also love my car. I bring it in for oil changes up here since its right near my work. I will most likely have them do the recall as well. If something wrong does happen to my car that is unrelated to any aftermarket parts, I will convert to stock and have it towed to The Maryland dealer since I originally bought it from them.

leave it on. its a recall which has nothing else to do with anything on the car besides the recal part. nothing directly related or indirectly related.
