I didn't go into limp, But my car would stumble at low speeds and backfire like crazy at low cruising rpm speed shifts and as soon as that continued to happen the next day, I parked it so I couldn't say that I would or wouldn't have went into limp mode.

But I just replaced the seal/o-ring and my issue went away.

Also you could try what slapbetcommissioner did and unplug it and see how it runs then ? I am not sure if this would help rule it as the problem or not.

Hope this helps, keep us posted

I honestly can't answer that question on how they get torn...

But Maybe as you stated a bit of oil or lube might help with install and removal.

I will be trying your idea with a bit of lub around it like an oil filter might help seal and/or stop it from tearing during install or removal.

Hope this helps, Keep me posted

It definitely made a huge difference on removal and 're installed but didn't change anything I got a boost leak tester from modern performance I am going to be testing for leaks soon fingers crossed that it's the issue otherwise I have no clue!

It is common on boosted cars to have or potentially create leaks, This could be your problem I don't like guessing but you will use this tester in the future So it is not a potential waste.

Also the code states the car is running rich and loosing air does make sense.

Sorry I am not the greatest help, But I am trying man keep us posted.

Did you test the whole system from the intake side of the turbo?

What do you mean by the old rationed ones? Do you mean leake worm clamps?

**** eh, I had some free time so I thought I would look into this issue and there is an actual posted solution to this persons problem in here it is the very last post..... https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...8-help-258831/

but its kinda good someone actually posted an answer for once lol again this may be different because no 2 cars are the same but this could help steer you in the right direction.

Also did you use a compression tester or an actually boost leak tester with smoke É

The reason I ask is the compression way is good, But still can over looked where as the smoker is by far the best way to rule out any small or big leaks of any kind.

Also I dont see or maybe over looked, But did you disconnect the purge solenoid like slapbetcommissioner said and take it out and see if it acts or runs any better, The solenoid itself could be failing

Hope this helps and keep us posted

again

p2178 code

Take the car to your local shop. Maybe they can fix it. Js since you just said you're dumping money into the car. Just call around and ask how much $$ they'll charge you to fix.

Yes indeed guys.. I just don't see the point right now so if been trying to diagnose it myself. I'm going to be parking the car for the winter and I was hoping I could figure it out myself.. I work for a family owned dealership which is also partnered with a Chevrolet dealership and get decent deals.. so I think its be best for me just to wait till spring!

That is very true and I agree with it being park you lower the risk of damaging anything and you will have time to research and get more or better plans of attack for your issue come spring time.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Angry

gee guys i cant seem to figure out this code and the other day it pulled a p2188 code for being too rich at idle.. i boost leak tested it and all fittings were tight and leak free.. the only other thing that i can think of is the tune or also i have my k&n sri intake.. i don't know what else to do.. it goes into limp mode and then i clear all codes and the car runs perfect for about 20 minutes.. its pretty intermittent... anyone's input or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

OP, chasing this or virtually any codes on a modern car with out proper tools to analyze data is chasing your tail in circles and more often than not costs more than a good diagnostic tool by the time you factor in wasted money on random sensors and all the time you spent on it.

My recommendation is buy HPT, learn to log.

IF you posted a HPT log on here you'd get much more refined troubleshooting help vs educated guesses.

I know HPT is a chunk of dough to fork out but look at it like this. You'll easily be able to sell it when you no longer have your car and recoup 80% of the cost EASY.

Just my .02 cents worth of input on that.

I would be willing to bet your LTFT are off the charts right now and that's triggering your code.

I have checked my car for boost leaks with a boost leak tester I bought, none were found. And I have seriously considered buy the HP tuner because I know I can log my car on there and also what was holding me back was the matter of tuning myself I really only need it for when something goes wrong otherwise.. I have no experience tuning what so ever, I'm currently on a tridents tune and don't know if I can overwrite the tune because I know Vince locks his tunes and they are "ghost" and there for I don't have the tuning cable to put my car back to stock..
