Is this a part of the intercooler system, or just a skid plate for it?

Like the title says, heres the pic:

I'm not sure, it seems like just a skid plate, but their are rubber seals, so I am kind of confused.

I really wish someone would sticky this.

David, I hope you removed that on purpose. If you hit something, there's a chance that your intercooler end tanks are now cracked.

ahhh, the plastic mounts for the hinged side were cracked off, but it was still on their, I removed it,
posted this, went back out, zip tied it on the hinged side, and bolted it back up on the other side,
then came back to read these responses, I'm considering removing it all together now

Remove, and epoxy/jbweld the holes. Check your end tanks for leaks!

Condenser collector for moisture that's why it's *tubed* into the intercooler via the holes on one side. They need to be plugged up good if you're gonna remove it.

What do you guys think about shortening this, by cuting it and welding where it was cut?

would be just fine....

Don't even need that stupid thing unless you get some sort of head gasket issue and it spews fluid out the manifold .
