Part numbers for rear pads?

Anyone have a part# number for the rear pads or the ones for the saab 9-3?

Rear rotors are 15921402. Is that right number for them?

Search is your friend... yes, that is the rotor p/n

As far as pads, a good aftermarket pad such as Hawk HPS or EBC redstuff/greenstuff for a Saab 9-3 or Pontiac Solstice are the same fitment.

I have EBC redstuff pads on the rear currently, but they are squealing & howling at low speeds. I have Hawk HPS pads on order.

Yeah, just ask for the solstice rear pads because every damn auto store I went to: Autozone/Advance Parts Plus/Auto Value/NAPA gave me the same pads for a 2005-2007 Cobalt, regular pads. I wouldnt buy OEM pads anyway, they dont offer lifetime warranty Plus I was informed by a GM disctrict specialist that if you put aftermarket rotors on it will void your "Rotor Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty" for the 36,000mi. How many miles are you at that you need rear pads already? I was only at 16,000 miles and my rear pads were down to metal, on the INNNER PADS ONLY!!! And GM wouldn't cover it.... Oh yeah and the part number for the rear stock OEM pads is: 93190338

Mine did it at 8000, metal on metal on the inner rear. Chevy DID cover it. Also resurfaced the rotors. I just wonder how long before it happens again. The service tech said it won't, but I dunno....

When I powdercoat my calipers I'm going to install the factory Saab brake pads during assembly. I just put rear brake pads on my Saab 9-3 at 90,000 miles. No squealing, torn up rotors, nothing! I compared the new 2009 9-3 sitting next to the 2009 Cobalt SS on the showroom. The calipers are identical. I also heard they had a bulletin, but could not find it. The pads are only around $40 at my cost.

Yeah that is where I got the number but wanted to confirm the number, Thanks and really there needs to be a sticky because I read a few threads and none gave a part number for pads

Is that a Cobalt specific part number? I just ordered new rotors and pads from the Chevy dealer yesterday I did it over the phone and made sure when he said they could get pads they were for an SS with FE5 suspension and he said yes, but in my happiness at him telling they were availble I forgot to get the part number for the pads.

What was the bulletin for?

What year/model Solstice and Saab 9-3 shares the same rear brake pads as the SS/TC?

Is it the rear pad material that is chewing up the rotor, or is it a soft rotor/untreated rotor?
It looks like it is just the rear brake pad material. Hawk HPS might be the ticket.

Mine is a result from the flashing left on the rear calipers

However, that was just an assumption because I couldn't see them. Upon removing the wheels and checking the brakes I noticed a feature on the rear passenger caliper mounting brackets that is colliding with the rotor and is making a groove in the rotor. This would explain the grooves in the passenger rotor and the grinding noise I hear.

On the driver side the matching feature is not contacting the rotor. There is a small groove in the rotor but I don't see what exactly is causing it.

The pads on both sides actually are very equal in material left so I definitely was wrong about that. At least I did find a problem so I know that I'm not going crazy. Its very easy to see why the dealer missed it to. I don't think they removed the wheel and looked at it on a lift. To see the feature on the bracket the wheel needs to be removed and you need to be looking from the top.

I was told they had a bulletin for the rear rotors getting chewed up. The fix was to install Saab specific brake pads

2008 Saab 9-3 and Pontiac Solstice pads fit.

The pads are the culprit, the rotor material is fine.

So technically we could just swap in new brake pads (such as Hawk HPS) as soon as we take delivery of the car?

What is the EBC and or HAWK P/N for the Saab 9-3 rears? (which are stated to fit the SS/TC rears)

2008 Saab 9-3 Hawk HPS:

HB478F.605

I would avoid EBC - I've heard lots of bad things about that company from Ford Mustang forums.

Well that is interesting, Summit Racing shows that these rear pads are also used on:

Volvo S40, C70, V50, V70
Saab 9-3
Mazda3
Saturn Sky
Pontiac Solstice

So there's even some Ford C1 DNA in the Cobalt SS Turbocharged. The Ford C1 platform is the underpinning for the Mazdaspeed3, the competitor to the Cobalt SS Turbocharged.

The Volvo S40/C70 and Mazda3 are also C1.

Being we also support the Mazda platform we do have Hahn P/N HB478F.605 in stock!

Anyone wants a set, PM us... $68.99 for the pads

(providing the P/N is correct)

That is the correct part number. They fit from personal experience. I believe you meant Hawk, not Hawn.

How are the Hawk HPS compared to the Hawk Ceramic? Which do you recommend for street use (and occasional track use)? Or is there a better brake pad choice?

I may just swap the pads right away. Do you know where I can find the procedures for removing/re-installing the rear brakes (torque specs for fasteners, etc...)?

I went with HPS pads for my SS/TC and used them on the Crown Vic as well. They work very well on the street and for spirited driving - low noise and low dust.
