Possible Traction Control Issue ??

I have an 09 SS/TC that for the last few weeks has had a bad wheel speed sensor on my front passanger wheel. My car randomly kicks back at me in the brake pedal under braking from time to time. The ABS light comes on almost every day. Only to go back off the next time the car is re-started. At times it stays of for a few days. Sometimes comes back on right away. I have had it scanned and like mentioned it is a bad wheel speed sensor in my front passanger side wheel. But my real QUESTION is. Can a bad wheel speed sensor also mess with the traction control system ? Also lately my car has been kind off cutting out under acceleration. I havnt really noticed if it still does it while the ABS light is on. But I dont think it has. I know if i turn the traction control off maunually. It will still cut out from time to time. The car started doing both things at the same time basically. It does feel like the car is cutting out on me for no reason. I have scanned the car for other codes and there are no other codes and it does not appear to be miss firing at all when looking at it under the torque app.

Is it at all possible that the bad wheel speed sensor can also cause the car to act up under accelerating at all with some type of traction issue as well ?

The whole esc system is based off of wheel speed data. So yes, it will absolutely effect the traction control and abs system.

Ok... So would that make it feel like it is causing my car to cut out all power ? Almost like a fuel cut as if i was spinning in snow or on ice ? It really only seems to buck like that and cut out when the abs and trac light ISNT on.

Thanks

Push the competitive mode/esc button for 6-8sec, you will see on your display "esc off" see if the car loses power then.

I have done that... It still seems to act like it is cutting out . But as soon as the esc and abs light come on it doesnt seem to do it anymore. But i just wanted to make sure that it can cause a car to cut out like mine is.

And on top of that. On my way to work this morning i can hear a bearing howling. I cant tell which one or from where. Sobim hoping it is from the one that is causing the abs light too. I hope. Or else i have two bad bearings.

Well i went a head on the weekend and installed a new bearing for the one that was causing my abs light to come on. And thankfully it was also the same bearing that just started howling the other day also. The bearing was deffinitly the cause of my car freaking out and causing it to buck and spit a lot. It was cutting fuel thinking it was spinning half the time. The other half thr time my abs would kick in for no reason. Its hard to beleive a bad sensor can cause so many problems. Even with the tc and esc tuned off. It still caused drivabiliry problems UNTIL the Abs AND esc lights came on. Which was half the problem. They rarely did. Just a quick fyi i guess ! 😄

Turning them off just tells the engine not to cut back for a certain rate. The nannies are still there, if a speed sensor is messed up the bcm should be limiting the acceleration if they see one sensor at double the other or a certain ratio to prevent engine/transmission damage.

Thank god too. I really couldnt drive the car the way it was. I would have thought that after a few miles the ecu would figure out the sensor was crapping out. But nope... Not mine.. It wouldnt come on for days. And made driving it a pain in the ass.

Also , its not hard to see why these sensors fail on our cars a fair amount. My car has really low milage for its year. And when i got the bearing out and looked at it. The ring gear for the magnetic pick up was totally corodide. They are almost fully exposed tothe elements. Almsot. Its a bad design imo.

You should of just disconnected the sensor completely. Then the ECU/BCM would know there was an issue with the sensor

I thought of that after the fact. I wasnt totally sure at first if all my issues were from the bad sensor or not. So i never ended up trying it.
