Post up your build date
no that's what i know ... options don't have any effect on build dates unless there is a problem with part availability it's not like they only build cars with sunroofs one day and the ones with out anotherday
Yeah, the options won't dictate the order of production, however the model does. I know that they spread out the SS (or any irregular/less commonly built) models throughout the shifts since they generally take longer to assemble. Not to say that they won't be built in the same day, but they likely don't have more than say 1 SS in a row of 5 or 10 cars.
Hey awesome! It's not very often that I actually know what I'm talking about
On Tuesday I called the dealer and they said it hasnt been built but it's still on schedule (whatever the hell that means since they have always guessed at the date) they said once it is built, it takes 12 days to get to the dealership.
Have you guys set up financing yet? I would like to know if I will still be able to get 0% for 60 months before i do anything, because if I can get 0% I will not put any money down on the Cobalt and pay off my wife's Caliber so we only have one payment but if it's not available then I will have to put it all on the Cobalt to get the lowest payment possible because we still have 3 years left on the Caliber. I figured that if I pay off the caliber my monthly payment will be under $500 but if I use the money to put down on the Cobalt the combined payment will be about $700

I knew it would happen. My dealer told me last Friday that I can get financing going, then a couple hours later he emailed saying they need the vin# to start the process and they won't get it until Monday (today) (they told me weeks ago it would be built the week of the 13th)
So I get home tonight and get this
I really don't think I'm going to get this car, It's been a bad deal from day one when the paper work had to be hand written because there computer was down, then it was two days later when I called them to ask about the order being placed and they said they were waiting on me, to know if I wanted a spare tire or not. REALLY, did I mark it down...no?
Then the whole "hold" on the RPD for months then calling them when I heard it was off and them saying "for some reason "Chevy" didn't put your order through but it should come faster now" then trying to pry a date out of them, to them saying the week of the 13th to today. It's like pulling teeth with these guys.
I think it might be time to talk to a manager.
I had this happen to me about 12 years ago when I went to buy some house speakers at Goodguys. For 2 months they were on back order, but I had paid up front, after two months and still on back order I got antsy and I went to the store on the guys day off (had no idea) come to find out they were discontinued when the guy sold them to me. Something was up because there were a couple of managers talking with other employees then they told me about being discontinued and gave me 50% off of another set of speakers for my trouble plus another $100 off of a $300 center channel.
Like that, I just feel like something is up. Either that or they just don't care about getting this car to me.
And when the F is ANT day?

my dealer "phoned a friend" because they still where not building SSs with RPD at the time
if your car was on order since dec thats BS, mine is sitting at the dealer waiting for me, in all its "RPD is standard for 2010" glory

They tell me that mine was built last week, but there was a glitch getting the vin # but they should have it by this weekend so I can start the finance process.
Guess I'll see if they were lying to me this weekend

i am a GM employee too it dosen't give you any special advantage... my buddy's dad is incharge of all the new car orders that come from canada i guess i could call him and get him to look in to it for me...
and yes my car was in fact ordered in december on the 5th at 1 15 pm to be exact... i used to work at the dealership i ordered from and the assistant manager called me right after he ordered it..
and i understand that they didn't start up production for the ss till april but i just figured that someone that ordered in december would get their car before some one that ordered in febuary or march.. that's what gm's FIFO system is all about...
