Question: Exhaust?

Hey,

I was wondering is there any exhaust that GM sells right now that can fit the TC. i just want to play it safe with the warranty. GMPP Touring Exhaust, does that fit?

It does fit. Its the same catback system on the SC and TC. But for a turbo car you do not want to lower your piping to 2.25. Go hahn. Best on the market.

I'm fairly new around here, but I'm pretty sure any GM factory upgrades you find for the SS are going to be pre 08, for the SS/SC.. It would be questionable if they apply to the SS/TC.

I know GM's stage 1 kit will be out soon, but after that it's up in the air with their financial situation right now.

If the R&D was put into it with the SC in mind, the chance of it providing the same benefit to the TC is slim, even if they bolt up.

You'd probably be better off fabing your own system from a performance perspective.

Of course the OP is looking for something that doesn't void the warranty, and I can't help there. However if the GMPP exhaust says it's for the 05-07, and you put it on an 08, you'd probably void the warranty anyway

its not the same cat-back for the SC and TC. the TC has a 3 bolt flange at the end of the downpipe, the SC only has 2

Believe me, I have looked at the Hahn and have wanted to go with that. The thing is, when I have an issue and want to take the car to the dealership than I'm going to be screwed. What if I keep the stock exhaust? Will I be able put that in when I need to go to the dealership? Is there any welding that has to be done or is the whole system a bolt-on?

Wrong. the flange where the downpipe connects to the resonator is differant...

You could however buy the GMPP exhaust and take it to and exhaust shop and ask them to make a flange to fit it...

Here's a picture of the flange on an exhaust for the SS/SC...

Here's the header flange on the exhaust for the SS/TC...

Here's the flange that meets up with the rest of the cat back at the end of the downpipe (there's a third hole hiden because it was cut off by the picture)...

Here's the whole downpipe setup for reference...

the thing i saw said stage 2...........i think stage 1 is the intake/exhaust and slight tuning adjustments, don't quote me yet, still speculation, could just be stage 1 tune and intake/exhaust are different.

god that looks so restrictive. my limited tuner knowledge tells me that excessive bends will decrease exhaust gas velocity. what's the deal with that?

No it won't. Welcome to the site. Next time try the search button instead of bumping a dead thread. I believe there's even a sticky on this...

No it wont void your warranty. Basically for them to void your warranty they need to prove that something you did caused the problem in question. Then it would only void the warranty for those parts but the rest of your warranty would be intact.

Example 1: You do some engine mods and something in the drivetrain fails. Most likely the problem was with your mods and for those repairs you are SOL if they can prove it which likely wouldn't be too hard. The rest of your warranty will still be good though.

Example 2: Same engine mods but the rear suspension fails. The problems are unrelated unless they can prove you did some serious racing or tried jumping the car or something. In this case your warranty is fine and the rear suspension will be fixed.

Google up the Magnussen-Moss Act and read up on the details.

Also the chances of your exhaust causing any real problems is almost none.
