Rear Sway Bar Rubbing?
Still betting it's the exhaust for most people, and they do not realize it. From reading this thread, it's obvious that some people are checking it while it's unloaded, which is completely wrong.
Check the clearance to the exhaust while the car is fully loaded on the ground. Bet you can only get a finger or two in there if you're on Pedders. Guess what happens when you go over a bump?

Today we are working on a solution to take care of two issues in the latest series of bars: #1 the larger forward hole in the twisting beam that allows the sleeve to go inside, and lock to the nut plate and not clamp the nut plate to the beam , and #2 the bar kissing the V beam. If this solution works, I will mail the update parts to you asap...the current production run may incorporate this change, not sure yet this is the news as it happens. Please contact me directly via email. thanks

My bar (1.0) is a a couple of mm away from the v beam but does not touch ever. When I got under the car last summer I was under the car pushing up on the sway bar (like bench pressing) and I had to use a lot of force to make it contact the v beam. No big deal and as you can see the old guy will make it right for those concerned
Answer: not loose on the triall fit here no matter what I did. But contact with the V beam thats normal but if you dont like it I did put in a 4 mm thick washer on the leading (large hole) bolt (.187" zinc plated common washer) has to be squared off to sit flat on the twisting beam.
all good piktars later

This the point of contact on the V beam

This is a piktar of two beams one made in fall 2009 (powdercoat has endured pretty well) and the latest generation textured black pc bar with 2009 bolts in place/2011 bars have longer bolts.

this is the 4 mm washer trimmed to install on the forward mounting point, which has the larger hole in the twisting beam itself.

this shows the washer in place

and this shows the clearance to the V beam.

This solution takes away from any chance that the bar sleeves are so long as to prevent the proper clamping of the bar to the beam, and further provides clearance to the V beam.
Today I found the new bar clamps fine without any washer to space it. I used 50 ft lbs of torque the bolt and plate can handle that no problem
Hopefully this is a suitable answer , for those who have contacted me directly via email I will mail out washers free of charge....thanks for choosing our hardcore race parts.

Just read thru this entire thread and all I can say is what a great person to do business with, I have never seen someone so involved with there product. kinda sad the best vendor here is not even a vendor, regardless this is a example of how a business should run.

no, with that washer/spacer in there it will sit the same height as the rear bolt(that doesnt fit through the hole in the beam) so the original bolts are still long enough
Thanks everyone your spacers are in the mail....btw, I found on a TC today that had gotten into an argument with a small shrub /tree whatever (rolled backwards when hand brake did not hold) that the fuel tank metal skid plate fasteners were broken ; could lead to rattle and banging. Also the brake/gas line brackets were damaged, i noticed that as when installing UCR you have to drop them down to clear the install etc.
so far so good/ enjoy your rides... for Tom G who started this thread i sent new bolts as well but as Rootbeer pointed out, not really needed...

you email Gloria at gloria@powellmotorsport.com and tell her what you want. either the Street, Hardcore, or(youll have to wait for production to begin) the XXX Rear Sway Bar. make sure to include all your shipping info and she will contact you back with a price, then paypal the money and wait for the goodies to arrive in the mail!
Note to Tom.G. I have found quite a variation in twisting v beams, some touch some dont. I did however find a TC with a street bar that contacted and "knocked' made a noise. Washer upgrade fixed it, and we will ship extra hardware with each bar going forward. All who asked have upgrade, expt ecocharge; I dont have an address for him for some reason.
PS XXX 1.5 bars are shipping...
