Removing braided line off valve cover?

Hey guys, just wanted to know the right way to take the stainless steel braided like off the L shaped fitting on the valve cover. I dont need to take the whole thing out, jusst the line off. And anything I should look out for when swapping the valve cover?

Oh, and one more thing.. what do we torque the valve cover bolts to? I herd 10ftlbs and I heard 80 ftlbs.. lol

there is no tool that fits the pcv line at the cover that runs to the turbo. Remove the 6 mm bolt at the turbo housing (10 mm socket) to remove the cover with the line attached. The other braided line to the air intake removes with the proper tool.

I have a little trick Devon figured out here, so we can remove the line that is difficult here at the shop, GM call it unserviceable for good reason, no tool will fit.

All our powdercoated LNF covers are supplied here on an exchange basis, with that line attached, and a tool to remove the other line. The way we work we dont charge a core charge, we rely on our customers to return the cover and the tool asap...

The man is right, that line is next to impossible to remove nicely. And he is also right about removing that bolt from the turbo and pulling that fitting out, it is in there pretty good, so be warned!

BYT is right its put in with some thread locker, so best taken out when car is still warm; easy on an LNF it stays hot for evah!
. I use a 10 mm matco articulated socket 1/4 drive with a 14 inch extension. I put the bolt in the socket with some paper to hold it in to replace....
LNF covers are 100 exchange candy colors are extra....shipping is extra

Okay so the intake one is removeable with the proper tool, and the one that goes to the turbo, unbolt it from the turbo and then what? Lol I can see this is gonna be a pita, there's no way to remove the line off the valvecover to the turbo? And what is the proper tool to remove the line from valvecover to intake?

The one that goes to the turbo, once you undo the bolt thats it. Its like a nipple on a piece of metal on the turbo. Once its out ur done with that part. The valve cover to intake line can sometimes be taken off with these...

I believe they are called like fuel line disconnect tools. I had no luck with these. Some people do. I ended up cutting it off and buying a new braided line

No, the line that goes to the turbo only unbolts from the turbo and stays connected to the valve cover. You can use that tool (with mild success) to get the line off that goes to the intake.

If you're doing it through Powell, they send one in exchange with that line attached. They can get it off at their shop with a tool they created.

They just posted in here. This is what he said...

there is no tool that fits the pcv line at the cover that runs to the turbo. Remove the 6 mm bolt at the turbo housing (10 mm socket) to remove the cover with the line attached. The other braided line to the air intake removes with the proper tool.

^What he said. The only way without Powell's tool is to cut it off. If you went it to Powell you'll have the one braided line from the turbo still attached to the valve cover. If you are going to paint it yourself...you can just cut it off and replace the line with some other kind of hose. Thats what I did. I got my valve cover from modern performance and here is what I did.

1) Cut the line that goes to the intake with a dremel tool cause I had no luck with this disconnect tools. (Ordered a replacement)
2) Removed the 10mm bolt on the turbo that holds the line going to the valve cover.
3) Unbolted and removed the valve cover.
4) Used a dremel to cut the other line off the valve cover.
5) Used a vacuum line in place of that ^ line.
6) Put new valve cover on with vacuum line going to the turbo and replacement braided going to intake.

Hmm, so you just cut end to end of the vc-turbo line and replaced it with a hose? How did you keep the hose on the good? Little coupler clamps? Thinking of doing that.. got a pic of it?

Yea, the part that is on valve covers I just cut through it so I like bend it off. Kinda hard to explain, but as long as you get it off its whatever If you get a the right sized hose you won't need clamps. I used zipties. Been like that for a few thousand miles and haven't had a single problem yet. I'm at work right now, but I can get pics for you in a little bit if you'd like...

Ok I just went out during my lunch and took pics of my set up and I'll do like a little mini how to for it:

First here is my little set up:

First thing you'll wanna do is use a 10mm socket to get that bolt off the turbo down here:

Here is the bolt:

Now the line will be removed from the turbo but still connected to the valve cover. Next disconnect the other braided line from the intake. Now both lines will only be connected to the valve cover. Unbolt and remove the valve cover. Now its time to cut these lines off. You will cut them here:

and here:

Now with both lines removed you can either replace them with a vacuum line like I have done from the turbo the valve cover or you can order new braided lines. Here are links to Crate Engine Depot's lines:

This is from the Valve Cover to the Intake:

This is from the Valve Cover to the Turbo:
