replace shifter cables/linkage

replace shifter cables/linkage

has anyone ever replaed them on their own? If so explain how difficult it is please. Thanks

replaced the stock ones. The back and forth linkage was really bad.

Its pretty easy to do man. There is only one bolt holding them down under the car right by the down pipe. After that. Just pull them off your transmission and disconnect them from inside the car as well. The firewall grommet is a bit of a pain . But even that isn't bad at all. Just pull it and it will pop on its own. Or you can use a flat heat screw driver to push it through the firewall.

I just got my transmission guy to do it lol. My hands are too big and I can't see wtf I'm doing under there. I could of done it but I most likely would've broken something. It ****** sucks because the vertical moving cable was fine and the neutral one was almost completely seized. There needs to be some kind of grommet or gasket at the ends of these cables to prevent dirt from getting inside. I also tried taking it apart and seems impossible

The only thing I'm stuck on is figuring out how to get the damned transmission to lock into 4th gear, by releasing the spring assembly. I kept feeling like I was going to break something...

Just put it in 4th then take the assembly apart man
