I Like the reverse lock out feature in the car its better to be safe then sorry in my book. Ive never had a problem with ti so far. In fact its easier to get this car into reverse than my old crx i had.

But as far as shift goes I am used to it and I find 5th every time with no issues. I really didn't have any issues since removing it.

Reverse is not locked out in my wife's 99 Cavalier, and 5th is in about the same spot - no problems and she learned stick on that car. I like having it, but you are never going accidentley to go from 4th to reverse, or 3rd to reverse, without moving the shifter in a weird and noticeable way. I did buy the B&M STS though as one of the STSes that offered reverse lockout...
And yeah, remove the boot and the tab is obvious to see (and to shave).
