Joining SCDA in New England area soon. For a very resonable fee, you can drive your car at: NHMS, Watkins Glen, Limerock, Pocono, Jersey International and one other I don't remember. Not actually a race at all. Some SCCA cars are there but mostly street legal sports cars. Everything from Miatas to Vettes. Mild tech inspection for fluid leaks, tires , brakes etc... Snell approved helmet and you're on the track! Can't freakin wait! Will get a tune and some dedicated track tires. This is awesome.
Have you ever open tracked before? If not, ask someone more experienced to co-drive with you for awhile. No shame in it, and in the end you'll have a lot more fun.
I used to do it quite a bit in my Mustang days. You'll become a master at bleeding brakes between runs.

I have some road course experience but have ten years of circle track racing in an open wheel modified. Still gonna have an instructor with me the first time out, " novice run group", then the guy said if it's all good, he will bump me right into the ametuer run group. Couple of pics of my modified in my "images". God I miss that car.
If your into track days you may want to look into joining up with your local BMW or Audi clubs. They have track days a few times during the summer and fall months and you dont have to own either of those cars to be in the clubs. Track days usually cost around $300 or so when you go with one of these groups and usually that price includes race instructors that ride with you and teach you how to drive the course better.
This club is charging $250 for all day at NHMS. The cheif instuctor used to be the cheif instuctor at Skip Barber. I believe there are 5-6 instuctors present. Will need to work on heel- toe. The only place at NHMS for 4th gear will be the 1 long straight. The rest of the track will probably be 3rd. I don't think there are any turns slow enough to warrant downshifting into 2nd.
The car rocks; here are some pics...
