Rpd gone bad options for pillar?

Hi, so my rpd has a fully black screen except that is says safe mode in the top left corner. Took it to the dealer, they called gm, gm had no clue, they both said it probably went bad. Considering it doesn't do anything and all I ever used it for was a digital speed guage, what are my options for ripping it out? Does anyone make a cover for the hole? Or where can I get a solid pillar? Thanks

If you want a solid pillar get a stock Cobalt one. You could get aeroforce interceptor.

You will still need to have it connected tho as the car will not start without it

The car won't start without it? Really? I don't really wanna put any money into it. Like maybe 100. It does nothing for me and I would prefer it to just be out of the way.

I wonder if I just have some corrosion on a connector. Maybe that would cause this. I did have a bit of leaking from the sun roof vent. It's fixed now but I could see that being the problem. What do you guys think?

Looking can't hurt. I was just thinking about what the options were if mine went out. I know snail said it won't start without it but if you put an aeroforce guage in it's place I'd hope it would still start? Maybe you could find one in a junkyard or on eBay?
