Canada Stage Kit in Canada!!!

I just got off the phone with the stealership and they want 1250.00 plus tax for the Cobalt stage kit. That's ridiculous. They tell you to support your local stealership and buy parts in Canada. For that price no wonder everybody is going state side.

When they match the prices then you can support them, until then just get the kit from crate engine depot.

Yep, go through CED or hell drive to a US dealership and you'll still save; I don't know where GM comes up with their price differential but I'm pretty convinced they think we're clueless

It's a problem for a lot of high-value goods here in Canada. The price differential is much more reflective of Canadians' unwillingness to stand up for themselves than the actual exchange rate.

Anyone remember when the dollar was at $1.10 USD and manufacturers were STILL charging 10-15% more than U.S. prices? I know a guy who picked up a Boxster over the border during that time and saved $15k AFTER customs fees.

Buy from CED and have it installed here. Explain it in a friendly manner to your dealership, though. It's not really their fault that they can't get parts for what they're actually worth, hence them being forced to charge absurd prices. It's THEM who have to complain to GM.

Canada Stage Kit

I'm definitely going with CED, he's the cheapest by far from all the calling around I have done. With that said, they still shouldn't be charging that much for a couple of sensors and a calibration.

cant say im suprised..and being in Newfoundland safe to say they are going to charge more again as where im on an Island. Im more then likely going to get the Trifecta GT tune while the car is in winter storage and put it on in the spring

Take a guess at 2 hours labour; taxes in at the standard rate I'd guess $200ish, maybe $250? I forget exactly what the rate is but that sound about right.

I think I read that another member on this forum went to his dealaerhsip showing them what CED was charging and they price matched it or atleast got really close. That's what I'm going to try to do when I'm buying this kit.

I asked the stealership if they would match it and I gave them CED's site to go to. No such luck they said they're losing way too much at that price.

I think you should have it intalled before putting your SS away for the winter. Besides, there are no snow yet? This way if there are any issue with the kit, it will be taken care of immediately. I will hold of on putting mind's away as long as I can until snow comes.

lol i just drove through 10cm of snow today on the way to work... supposed to get 25cm... nor easter... first snow fall of the year and it was supposed to go in storage yesterday but couldn't take it cuz the winter beater isn't on the road til tomorrow. i will never drive this car in the snow again... it is ridiculous... nothing worse than wheelspin/ABS kicking/drifting towards the ditch at 10km/h on a snowy hill. if i get the kit in the mail today maybe they can put it on saturday... but if not my hands are tied... i'm willing to bet it's still at the border.

So I just spoke to the dealership where I got the car, and they're more than happy to install the kit even if I order it from the States... No questions asked. I was pretty impressed.

I honestly thought it would be a tad bit cheaper... I'm very disapointed with GM these days. It definitely makes me consider that hp tuner tune.

How much are they charging you? What dealer is this? I may do just like you will be doing come spring - order from CED and installed by dealer.

This is True North Chevrolet in North Bay. I'm not going ahead with it yet, I just called to see how they'd react.
