Thumbs down Stock TC vs 06 Mustang GT

Didn't turn out as well as i planned.

From a rolling start to about 100 he had me by about 1.5-2.5 feet.

From a 40 Roll it was dead even til about 90 then he had about 1 foot me until i hit 4th gear then then i dropped back to almost his bumper by 120

From a 60 roll... well that was a distaster because of our shift points.

He has an exhaust and most likely and intake

Im stock

I see videos of cobalts beating these year mustangs, i shouldn;t have ran my mouth but he ended up being a cool kid.

NLS in every gear man. That may have let you pull ahead. You lose a lot of boost without doing it.

Yea but it comes back so fast again.. i don;t think it would have made enough difference to get that small edge.

Is our TC's supose to be slower then the 05-09 GT's?

was it a california special? they have 20 more hp than the regular gt's. im not trying to make excuses. i figured an 05+ gt was faster anyway. my 04 felt pretty close as far as 0=65ish goes. after that the gt started to pull less.

A GT CS is basically an appearance package for the GT's. Has different bumpers, striping, etc. I don't think it's any different performance-wise though..

I think it was a normal GT with an exhuast and intake.. Ill prob see the kid again tommorow so ill look at the car again.

What i don;t understand is that when i first started dickin with him before we really raced later on that night is that i was pullin on him good just doing quick 40-80 races. Then when i go to really race him its like his car got alot faster.. Or mine slower.. i don't know

Ive never really paid much attention to my boost gauge before at really high RPMS but i getting really bad spiking near 5500.. I made a seperate thread on it

I love racing that year/style mustang and their often times cocky owners...raced a guy the other day that had just an intake and put i dunno like 10 bus lengths on him. We got to the light at the off ramp of the highway and he pulled up and said "There's NOO way that's stock" to which I replied.."nope." Then he told me his mods were an intake and a throttle body spacer (don't honestly understand what the point of those are) and I told him mine (this was before I had the DP)..and he was shocked...he was one of those guys that you could tell thought he was the **** because he had a mustang (backwards hat, one hand w/ wrist laying on steering wheel, and trying to antagonize a race). I love shutting up mustang owners.

Never raced an 05-09 yet. I wanna run a 2010 GT sometime..see what they've got.

The 2010 run the same times

So i guess this kid the the mustang only has an axle back exhaust

Ill give it a second shot tonight and see if i can pull on him

I hate running lower boost in the cold... The mustang is prob running alot better in the cold since there cars don't downtune themselves. *sigh* GM

I raced an 06 Mustang GT on Friday night myself; 5-speed with an exhaust (don't know about other mods). From a dig he had me by a car until 3rd gear where I started creeping on him (didn't pass him before he shut down). From a 20 roll I waited until I heard his car accelerating before I mashed the pedal and beat him by a car length.

From a roll you should be at least even honestly. NLS FTW against most mid-13 second RWD cars.

I own a 2007 Mustang GT M5. One night, another S197 any myself ran a couple times. Our buddy (08 SS/TC tuned) was going to watch/follow... We started and we were all close. I missed 3rd and by the time I got it in gear there was about 1.5 car lengths between the other Mustang and myself. Sure enough the SS/TC passed me and then the other Mustang like we were just cruising. Needless to say, I wasn't surprised... lol.

lately i had the chance to race against the new 2010 315hp Mustang GT from a roll, from 50mph.

3 races, the 2 first i waited for him to go, so he always got the jump, seem like they had better throttle response..., i was at his rear bumper on the other lane then it was the same until mid of 4rth then i was catching up slowly..

The last one i honked 3 times and this time i begun to pull on him faster, before i was in 4rth.

I also raced 07-08s it was about the same, but i was always faster with time....

NLS do make all the difference imo

I have a 07 GT w/ the 5-speed manual. My 09 SS/TC feels about the same in terms of acceleration, but the turbo lag can really make or break your race. Now in terms of agility, the SS/TC wins hands down. The GT was really made as a cruiser that goes fast in a straight line. Yes, the 2010 GT w/ the Track Pack II does handle very well, but remember that you can also modify your 05-09 GT to get the same results. The Cobalt just so happens to come with everyone from the factory (brakes, shocks, suspension, etc...)

The axle back on the GT won't help increase the power or acceleration, the stock exhaust is very good as-is.

he let me drive his car and i let him drive mine a few days ago. We both agreed that mine felt faster. (The stang hardly put me in my seat) Who knows maybe the car was just running crappy that night. On the another note, its been colder then what it was that night and my car feels alot faster now and im getting the itch to run him again.

Before we really started to race i was just messing with him from like 30 rolls and i was pulling almost a car length on him by the time i got to 60 then stopped. Then when it came down to a real race i dunno what happen.

Then someone couldnt drive or you ran against auto's. Period.

As far as the 05+ gt's without a tune they arent very quick but a tune and intake does help out a good amount. They are also drive by wire cars so they pull some throttle back at higher speeds. I know their tunes eliminate this.
