Hi all,
I am getting a stroker kit for my 2009 Cobalt SS, the vendor told me I can choose between CP or JE pistons. Does anyone of you have any clue about which brand is better?

Why? please explain. ZZP is building a stroker and has had one installed for a year.

 

JE is what the majority of the teams ive seen use, its what we use, its what you will use.

If you are truly doing a stroker build and not just blowing hot air, make a build thread on it. I know audi pfr played around with this on their fsi engine, so im curious to see if the end result will be the same on these.

 

What is the final displacement of this stroker motor?

 

2.3L or 2.4L. Depending on the base block.

So I assume your running a dual injector setup too?

I'd have to say JE you here a lot of good things about them

 

The only thing is this is the 08-10 LNF general area, and if your talking about a LNF JE dont make pistons for this car yet. No one has done a stroker on this motor either.

Wiseco is the only ones who have LNF pistons so far.

 

im sure you can get them custom made. itll cost a grip tho

 

Miller he said in the OP that its a 09ss. AyrtonSenna I would check with who ever your getting these options from. I dont think they realize that the motors changed in 08

 

Yea I was just clearifying. I agree most companies dont know they changed. I dont know how many times I have been asked when did GM switch to turbo.

 

LOL dude my uncle is a master tech for GM. Been there for like 20 years and when I bought my car he thought it was still the s/c. He hadnt seen the new one yet.

 

yeah most peoples keep asking why i bothered to waste money converting a cobalt to turbo lol.


je would be your best bet. they WILL be custom pistons as JE does not make an lnf piston. 2.3 is as much as you will get more then likely on the stock block. the deck height is too short to go to a 2.4 on the stock 2.0 lnf i believe.

 

the vendor that quoted me, Brian Crower, will build it custom, they said it will be 2.2L, 87 bore and 92 stroke

 

I know, that's why BrianCrower.com will build one custom for my LNF

 

on the srt4 bc doesnt make a stroker kit. it says for them to make 1 they need a deposit for 5 crankshafts, for them to do it

 

Around $ 700 with rings . Thats racers net. Jobbers like me get a discount price
