Want to drive a car with bad torque steer? Drive a Caliber SRT4 and that whole line. Makes the SS/TC seem like a dream.

just say... that term can be used both ways... my g85 stage 2 has zero tq steer,

TQ occurs mainly on highways with grooves in them w/ winter tires and that's it.

As a matter a fact, I think our litttle TC's are behaving quite well torque-steer-wise...

Just as long as you stick to 225's and avoid Canada during the wintertime; you're fine.

Maybe your alignment is off. (Toe adjustment I'm guessing)

I do know that mine will get tugged all over the place on uneven pavement. If yours does this consistently on smooth pavement. I'd get the alignment checked out. Some is normal... but yours sounds pretty bad.

My SS/TC does the same thing.....I had the alignment checked too. I finally figured out it's the all seasons I put on it last November (Dunlop SP Signatures--what crappy tires they are). I can't wait to put the Conti's back on. Mine even seems to pull one way or the other when NOT WOT because they seem to track strangely.
p.s., I have LSD as well

At WOT I definitely notice quite a bit of torque steer in my TC. It is weird because it is supposed to be barely noticeable with the LSD

On a good road, it is barely noticeable. Clever suspension tuning and LSD or not, however, our cars are FWD and put a lot of torque to the front wheels... The parts only ALLEVIATE the problem, they'll never cure it. Mine hasn't been too unbearable over the winter since my Gizlaveds are still 225 width, but I miss the Continentals.

So I have been driving around and usually when I get the crazy torque steer, yeah its on a bad road or the road has groves where the tires usually ride because of soo much traffic. On the highway in the middle lane where its flat, it is fine but if the road is less then perfect, then it goes crazy. Hopefully when I go to the track in a month, I have everything all sorted out, I would hate to pass somebody and then slam back into them because torque steer took over lol

Mine is almost non existent on smooth good roads, but throw some dips and bumps in there while in WOT and HANG ON FOR DEAR LIFE... and try not to let it steer into the other lane.

You drive a car a FWD car with 260HP lol. Of course there will be a bit of tq steer. Even the steering wheel tugs a bit in my LS a sometimes, when I stamp on it in first.

I've had my SS/TC for a few weeks and that's really my only complaint about it. The torque steer is horrible. It's not just you.

Well lets update this bitch cluelessk!!

Torque steer is so bad in my car is borderline scary. Can't stress it enough. I installed new spherical TCABs which helped a hair. But mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, if im not holding onto the wheel tight i'd pit maneuver the car im trying to pass at WOT.

Im going to get new trans mounts next as mine are going out, hopefully that helps the cause..

Trans mounts could help but you need to replace your rear control arm bushings with spherical mounts more so than the tcabs that you did. I can hold onto my steering wheel with 3 fingers going wot and I've got 400ftlbs of torque.

Any updates to this? My car wonders all over. Feel like something is loose. Even at half throttle it pulls funny. Passing is not controlled. Doesn't exactly go where it's pointed. And a round a corner with adding throttle it likes to turn the wheel towards the direction I'm turning on it's own.

Check your rear control arm bushings. I would wager they are torn, and it will cause the steering to be off.

Older thread that was bumped recently, my car was noticeably worse for torque steer after the GM Performance Parts Stage 1 calibration which essentially removes the torque reduction in the lower gears and also seems to allow for more engine torque mid-corner where the stock calibration is a little more conservative.

It got noticeably worse when I installed 235/40-18 tires on the stock rims, which had stiff sidewalls and were technically a little too wide for the 7.5" wide factory wheels. Even appropriate tires for the wheel size can cause a noticeable difference. I remember when the front-wheel drive V8-powered Pontiac Grand Prix GXP was being developed they spent significant time on tire selection to minimize torque steer (the traction control system was also a problem on the similar V8 Impala SS).

As the Cobalts age, things that could cause increased or sudden problems with torque steer include alignment, worn engine/trans mounts that allow the powertrain to twist too much on it's mounting axis and putting the axles out of alignment, and worn suspension components such as control arm bushings having a similar affect. If the stock ride height has been altered that can sometime exacerbate minor problems.

Is it the same for all of you or do I just need to learn how to drive?

I did a highspeed sprint to 200 km/h on a friends property and on the narrow lane, I was all over again and i was holding on with 2 hand. I just see vid's of people taking off like nothing or driving with one hand while recording with the other and I see no torque steer so I thought I would ask.

Thanks

I have a ZZP build on mine and I have the same problem. Does anyone know of anything you can do to improve this? Just reading through the thread it looks like I may need new tires.
