Ive read that downpipe and exhaust won't, but what else would be good to look at changing/adding to boost hp/tq without voiding warranty?

 

intercooler. pretty much anything that doesnt require a tune or have a sensor coming out of it, lolol.

 

honestly if people are so worried about there warranty.. just keep all the original parts... if your driving and your engine, tranny or turbo or something goes kaboom... just get it towed to your house... put on OEM parts... call GM get them to tow it to there dealership.. problem solved

intake down pipe, exhaust etc.. all easy to swap in and out

 

technically, no part really voids the warrany besides tunes, or electrical changes. any aftermarket part that is added can not legally void a warranty...kind of. the dealership has to have definite proof that the exact part you installed is that caused the problem. the only problem is arguing with a GM tech about what really caused it, they kina have the final say. like before, just keep the stock parts, and if you have to, put them back on. canada has different laws though. sooo, canada....eh

 

I can tell you one thing that definitely won't void your warranty. Searching.

take out your air filter bang it on the side of your house.

Do you have any kind of tune? If you don't bolt ons are practically pointless the cpu learns down air load increases by lessening boost. Charge pipe or a down pipe you might notice a bit of spool up a touch quicker but unlikely any power gain over all. If your worried about warranty like myself just get gms1. If you want to do bolt ons talk to your dealership and see what there ok with (if anything) and GET IT IN WRITING.

 

Lets say you start throwing a misfire code. You take it to your local GM dealer and they find out that you have a broken ring land on piston#1. They see that you have an aftermarket downpipe. Even if you don't have a tune, they can blame the broken piston on the downpipe because the downpipe requires changes to fueling and such that the OEM tune was never intended to make. You basically have no chance of getting anything drivetrain related fixed under warranty if you have so much as an intake installed, so keep all your parts stock and keep up with your service. The only thing you could put on the car that the Magnusson Act would protect you from would probably be the K&N drop-in air filter, and that won't really do you any good anyway. You can purchase the turbo upgrade kit from GM, which won't void any part of your warranty, but they will probably just say you were abusing the car anyway.

 

very true, they pulled the freeze frame when my cel came on, siad I was at 103 mph, 99% throttle, and 98%engine load, I forgot wheat the rpm's were for....no dealer will warranty my car anymore, basically if they find a way to not pay for it that's what they will do

they would never cover anything before that, now that the warranty is up they can find what's wrong with it in no time since I am paying for it, before they "couldn't explain what's happening"

 

GMS1 it is. 485 plus labor aint bad for 20 more hp and 60 more tq.

BTW 60 more lbft tq is insane, how does it wake up that much with a 20 hp increase? its freaking awesome..

 

Man I know how u guys feel my dealership is cool though they know my upgrades intake,exhaust,big fmic,lowering springs. They said they wouldnt make a big deal about boltons but if they found a tune they would void my warranty asap. So far Ive had map sensors replaced twice, blown transmission they gave me a brand new one. Now I had that misfire issue feel ur pain up above man!! Just got a call about my car said i have scorched cylinder wall with 0 compression reason for misfire code. so now i get a new motor yay!!! I think its all about the dealership mine is cool.

 

Ok if you wanna tune without voiding the warranty get the Trifecta Infiniboost/Select-a-tune because it is hidden on the ECU and the Tech2 machines show a stock GM flash. Or buy a spare ECU on GMPD and HPT that.

 

There is no such thing as a mod that will not void your warranty if the dealer ship decides and "proves" that your mod caused the issue.

 

I would laugh at them and say **** you.. Fix it... If wot is hurting the car then they never sbould have allowed the gas pedal to go that far.. Who buys a sports car and doesnt drop the hammer now and again?

lol who cares. its not like your going to find out what dealership he gets work done at. just like you wouldnt know which dealership ignores the fact i have a rather large turbo sitting in the engine bay along with bolt ons and a full powell suspension. if you know people you know people.

The GM Stage 1 Kit, you will get a nice jump in power and will not void your warranty.

 

First and foremost it's at the descretion of the dealership.

Second it depends on what warranty work you need to have done. For example. If your power mirrors already stopped working after 2,000 miles -- it's not gonna matter if you have a full turbo upgrade.

Now, if you're having tranny problems, and you have upgraded axles -- they may be able to twist it in their defense that the higher spline count and heavier rotational mass of the heavier duty axles is causing the tranny to fail and you're screwed.
