Vacuum Problem

Yea, sometimes when I am at idle I will notice that Vacuum being at 12hg-14hg then it just fixes it self?

Anybody know the cause of this?

I thought BPV at first, but if it is not that I am not going to waste my money buying it, if it is really not needed.

Maybe an intermittent vac leak? Not sure the bpv comes in to play at idle.

alot of factors will have an impact on the vacuum readings. different loads on the car, etc. If it fixes itself then its doing what its supposed to

Purge solenoid opening & closing at idle with a possible vac leak in the system. Unplug the connector on the purge solenoid for a day or two to see if it goes away. Possible CEL will result though.

or u can use a scanner and manually close the purge solenoid and vent solenoid and do a smoke test. Most likely youd have to have a shop do it though. And if your purge solenoid is bad it will typically on our cars result in a po496. Mine went bad and i didnt really notice any huge fluctuation in the vacuum reading though. Does the car have any cels? Lean code ect

for instance like when you turn your ac on, it creates a load on the engine resulting in lower readings. Or when you have to brake hard and deplete the vacuum booster. There are alot of things that will affect vacuum readings just like boost readings. Honestly if you dont have a CEL on and the car doesnt have any drivability issues i wouldnt worry about it just yet. Just noticed you are a TC you have alot of other things on your car than an SC that can attribute to your readings. Just monitor it and see if any cels come up and go from there
