No, both inside rear pads are wearing out about the same. They went from new to 3/32 in 3700 miles. outters and fronts are like new.

Update on mine....while in for the second time in under 12,000 miles, today they put new pads on (OEM, 2nd time) resurfaced the rotors (2nd time) and replaced the calipers!! They said the rear calipers felt tight so they replaced them and hope that solves the problem. Whadda you guys think? I think I'll be taking it back in in 3500 miles......♠

I got really confused for a second because of that picture... I received an e-mail notification and I went to the latest post, and there's a picture of... what appears to be a midget on top of a masked man, with... um... I'm not quite sure what it is.

Looks like a picture from a crappy horror movie.

haha I saw the movie new in the theater. If you'd told me then that no one would recognize it 25 years later I wouldn't have believed it.

Hehe... anyway, I just got finished doing a nail / brake pad inspection of the rear. No nail, but what I did find is when I had reported earlier that I had irregular inner-wear on the rear pads, it seems to be more on the driver's side.

Driver's / Passenger's Side Outboard Pads: 7mm / 7mm
Driver's / Passenger's Side Inboard Pads: 5-6mm / 6-7mm

Also, I've noticed the car originally required 3 - 4 clicks to fully engage the parking brake. Now it's up to 7 - 8. Does anyone know what the service manual says the proper amount of clicks should be? I still haven't bought mine... bah.

I hope this helps... somehow.

The Haynes manual said it should hold the car within 3-5 clicks on the e-brake handle. When I re-adjusted it, it would hold the car in 4 clicks. When the driver's brake was dragging (factory e-brake adjustment) the car held at 3 clicks.

Well i just had my rear pads replaced and rotors turned at 14,050km or like 8,700mi. And the piston side brake pad was right to the metal, while the outside looked near new. I by no means drive this car hard. Just a daily commute back and forth from work.

Dude your dealer sucks. You should not be paying for it anyway, it is a KNOWN ISSUE. You should be in a loaner or rental while they fix your brakes. Mine have been done twice so far in 12000 miles. Complain to GM. You are getting screwed.
*edit* read back a few pages or all of them to get the scope of the problem

Once your dealer replaces the pads, make sure they re-adjust your e-brake so there's no drag.

Last time they said its rust and then another time they said it is suposed to sound like this??? I have had other people look at them and they are sliced! Like you can lay music on they with your key if youd like lol

My inner driver side rear has two deep groves. I can only think it's from the Ebrake. 2500 mi here.

Send them the link to this thread, file a BBB complaint, and CC the email to GM customer service as well.

Better yet, file a safety complaint with NHTSA:
