Just trying to see if people are using something other than the gm stuff.
I see that redline fluid was used in the supercharged cars, but nothing as too what is used in the turbo cars.

Btw, yes I know that the tranny and clutch use different types of oil

I use "Slicker Than Owl ****" clutch lube. It keeps the clutch plate from engaging..........at all.

Redline gl4 75w-85 is an acceptable substitute for the lnf.
Castro syntrans gl4 is the oem fluid.

I wouldn't run RP, but that's just a personal preference. Transmission fluid should be the same fluid as the LSJ since it's the same F35 transmission with a different final drive.

Nope. The fluid in the lnf is superior. Do NOT use lsj trans fluid in your lnf. And if u have an lsj its ok to use the lnf stuff, its an upgrade

^^^ This. Stick with the stock GM fluid for your LNF tranny. GM says the fluid is good for the life of the vehicle. So, unless you've encountered a problem with your tranny, you shouldn't have to replace the fluid. Unless you just want something to do

The clutch fluid is the same res as the brake fluid. If you can flush it all out, go for it.

DO NOT use RP or any GL-5 fluid or those with LS (Limited slip) additives. THe LNF trans diff is sealed and the trans fluid doesn't get into it.

Redline MT-75-85 GL4 or the OEM fluid. I ran both and felt the Redline was a bit smoother in cold weather, but hardly noticeable.

No sir, no trans fluid changes required in the LNF. Some people do it every 30-60k miles if they choose, but it's not needed according to GM.

dont run ROYAL PURPLE i hadthat in my car when i brought it and totally fuccd my car up... I am living proof gears where like ufc fights to go in. I got Master Pro 75w90 in my car now and its running so much better then with the RP. the master pro has no additives in for LSD and closest thing to the oem, it is compatible wit GL2,3,4&5 fluids. i brought two bottles of it and my boy had a extra bottle of the dealer stuff, so i used one bottle of the Master pro to flush out all the RP crap and used the other bottle with the dealer stuff, car is on point right now. love it

Since I have an LSJ with the F35....I called GM when I did my clutch...the recommened Dextron 6....yes I know auto tranny fluid....the reason being....the transmissions dont have "reg" sncyro gears....its not a brass only scynro...it has small clutch packs hence the reason for the dextron 6...As for LNF....Id go with whats being recommened here...or when in doubt..call you local steeler...I mean dealer....

What is being said about the trans fluid being a lifetime fill is a bunch of bull. If you drive this thing easily it's whole life, yeah maybe, but if you use the NLS feature, drive it aggressively or race it at all it WILL break down and should be changed just like any other trans fluid.

I encountered a 2nd gear synchro issue in my trans back in October. The syncro had seized onto the shaft and I had to rev match to get it to engage without grinding. After having it swapped out for a new unit, I had the shop diagnose it and confirm my theory -It's exactly what I thought.

Change your fluid every 50,000 miles or so depending on driving habits. It's easy to change and is good insurance.

From what I've read on these forums people are changing tranny and spark plugs pretty early, maybe it's mostly due to modding their cars but I'm personally going to change Tranny/Coolant/Spark every 75,000km just to be on the safe side.

bonjour-

these cars are such an fantastic'compromise' (example) between fast/reliable/safe.

so...it's a no brainer since:

It's such cheap insurance to change any/all fluids on a schedule that takes YOUR paticular "severe service" into consideration. [so cali: Deserts/beaches/traffic -- severe!]

I use only gm-specific trans fluid for my ss - T/cees.

and use the pennz/shell/sopus- "ultra" ;

ate super-blue or amber Brake fluid - change often-due to the hydroscopic nature of bf.

and renew the 50-50 dex every 2-3 yrs....

both t/c's run uber smooth--zero problems.

I am about to hit 50k in my '08 SS and I am going to flush the brake/clutch fluid, is there any fluid that is clearly superior to OEM?

I was thinking about getting some Amsoil Series 600
