why do you like it loud?
Oh no? You'd be surprised what a set of cams will do to a turbo 4 cylinder engine.

I heard an SS/TC with exhaust last night and I was impressed. I thought it might sound like a typical turbocharged 4 cylinder, but no, it sounded pretty great.
Still not for me.
Still not for me.
my girlfriend has a stock 05 STI, i have an SS/TC with Hahn catback, my SS seems more refined, but both have a healthy sound for a four cylinder. the turbo itself does alot for getting rid of the farty and buzzing like some NA 4cyls have. plus a resinator and decent size muffler make it all work to make a real nice sound. but to each there own i believe
Some people like a loud exhaust because it draws attention to them. I've known young and old alike who are like that. It's kind of a personal preference like slapping on body kits, giant wings or chrome wheels. You might like them but I might not. Or we both might not like something that someone else has done but the person who actually owns the car does. There isn't a "right" or "wrong" opinion. Whoever is making the car payment or has the title in hand can do what they want to their cars.
There are also other people that associate giant exhausts that happen to be very loud with performance gains and that's not necessarily the case. It's very well possible to design a high flow exhaust with minimal restriction that happens to quiet down the exhaust. It's also possible to have a really loud exhaust system that performs no better than stock or possibly worse.
I myself like having a car that doesn't stand out and draws attention to itself but still packs a punch (i.e. a sleeper). I'll also tolerate a little louder if I can see a measurable gains that can be verified by testing. There have also been some cars I've owned that were so muted it wasn't in keeping with the overall performance character and other cars that droned or had other characteristics I didn't like. For me I wouldn't go with some louder just to be louder, but would consider adding an aftermarket setup. I think the SS Turbo is just about perfect though and won't be changing it out until the point comes where I'm retuning the car and trying to increase performance and can verify a gain of a system that may be slightly louder. But for me there's nothing like being at a track and having an incredibly fast car go by that is unnaturally quiet. Just my opinion and what I like.

i loved the sound of my last car... the engine was mean the exhaust sounded like it wanted to kill your first born.
the cobalt sounds like ass, thats it. my supercharger sounds incredible but the exhaust hurts my face

I don't like loud, at least not in a daily driver. I had the Megan Catback on my car and absolutely hated it. I'm currently rocking the stock exhaust and plan to keep it that way unless I can pick up a GMPP touring for cheap.
LOL
F-Body 4" Dual Exhaust Straight Pipes ... Gotta love it ......
omg that eclipse with .292 cams is SICK!!! i would love for my cobalt to sound like that
4" straight pipes on a normally aspirated smallblock??? overkill. probly lost power and sounded like ass

Quiet is for grandmas... If you wanted quiet why not get a Lexus... Or insulate your car with Dynamat so every one else has to hear that loud **** but you !!!!! But sleepers are cool too and that is why I am going to shave mine and make it look like a normal cobalt .. I don't like the SS status symbol .. I am going to shave it of all chevy signs and put a ? in its place ..... just for fun .. and it will be loud ..

Good feedback,thanks.Insightful.Me,i think a properly done mustang is a true beauty with the exhaust done up right and becoming of it's nature.I have had 5.0's rev at me goin the other way and i literally skipped a hearbeat,LOL.
I tend to agree with alot of blackbirds thoughts of trying to match the exhaust with the car and the type of car it is.After some thought,i would have to say that the only improvement exhaust wise i would like to hear is at idle. The lnf sounds too putt puttish at that time but i think it sounds just right when on the move.I don't want loud and the accomplishment of that being loud 4 cyl action.Today,i went out of town and did a good bit of highway driving.in the,umm.. upper speeds.I think its sounds great up there, and the car loves it.
