I'm starting to get worried about my brakes the inside is scaring bad and idk what to do. I only have 8500 miles should i be worried or am i being over protective of my car? What would be my best option to get this fixed i was thinking about hawk rear pads and i remember seeing that somebody bought slotted discs from somewhere but idk for how much.

We know, everyone's are.. Go to this thread and file a complaint..if we get enough complaints GM will be forced to recall and fix it for good

 

Yea i figured but how long do you think gm is gonna take to fix this a month who know's where my brakes will be in a month i need a now fix lol

 

The dealer that I took mine to had the pads in stock and machined the rear rotors so take it in and have them fix it. If they don't have the parts in stock tell them to put it back together and call you when the parts come in.

 

Both times they fixed mine I was given a loaner

 

file a complaint? jfc...just go to the dealer and get them replaced.

 

^^^^^Very many people have been jerked around by their dealers when trying to get them replaced. And it is a pervasive enough problem that GM needs to address it. Too many people have been told that their rear brakes are bad because they are abusing their vehicles, or won't fix it because it's a wear item. Since when do rear brakes wear out and score/warp rotors in under 20k, long before even the fronts wear out. Therefore in order to get GM to address the issue as a company and not leave the consumers to the whims of the individual dealership, a report should be filed.

 

I would talk to your dealer, you don't even know your options prior to discussing the issue with them. I noticed my rear brakes forming grooves around 1500 miles and it progressively worsened until I took it to the dealer around 5000 miles. They replaced the rotors and pads, no questions asked. I've put 3000 miles or so on the brakes since then and the issue seems to be resolved. They had the brake parts in but needed to get a part for a sunroof issue and the car was done within a couple days. So talk to your dealer and they may take care of you. If they have any issues with performing the repair, then perhaps you should contact GM or find another dealer.

 

I fail to see how new pads and rotors will fix the issue. The inner rear pad wears down too quickly. That means a caliper or emergency brake issue to me.

 

well it probably won't fix it but it will buy me another 10,000 miles

 

The issue I was experiencing was a nice groove forming in my rotor, and after the pads and rotors were replaced I haven't experienced the same issue. No idea about how the inner pads are wearing, perhaps that is something I'll end up running into.
