would a catch can fix it?

Well on Wednesday i removed my intake manifold and TB. The TB seemed to have a good layer of oil and what not. At first didnt think much of it and cleaned the TB, until i put everything back together and started driving. what i though to be a bad bpv and bad bpv solenoid surge sound i was getting hasnt happened since the TB was cleaned. My question would be would a catch can prevent oil to be in the TB? And if it will what would be better a mpx or powell catch can?

Since it would prevent PCV oil from going into your air source, I'd expect it to help IF the source of all the oil is the PCV system. Make sure your turbo isn't the source of the oil first.

What would be the best way to check to see if its the turbo?

Yank the outlet hose and look for oil. Did the oil on the TB look fresh?

You know what I just realized? There is PCV entry before the compressor (duh, where else would it be?). I'd pull the inlet first. Make sure no oil is being fed from that ridiculously hard braided line that's right after the MAF sensor.

no a catch can will do absolutely nothing. im assuming ur ss/tc u need the powell oil separator, its the only thing that works on this car, keeps the air system free of oil. many different types of catch cans have been tried by many people. I myself have tried 3 different types. only thing that works is powell oil separator. yes it costs a little much, but well worth the money.

Out of curiosity, do you lose so much oil through PCV that you need to add oil in between changes? I've done nothing to my PCV system but haven't had to add even a drop of oil in between changes.

I don't loose anything now since the separator drains it back to pan. but no I didn't loose noticeable amounts at all. just over time ur pipes get oil covered. and valves get gunked up. this is over the course of 30k plus miles. never had to add any oil. iv always drain virtually as much as I put in. - slight amounts that go into pvc system via oil vapors. but vapors turn back into liquid in the closed system .
