*REVIEW* - OTTP Rotated Trans Mounts

I just received these the other day and decided to install them last night. Most said that the install takes about an hour, so I gave myself 3 hours... you know how these projects go. I had the car jacked up and the front one installed in less than 5 minutes. I loosened the 3 bottom bolts on the rear one, and then started loosening the main bolt for the rear. At this rate I was going to be done in less than 15 minutes. Wrong . I have an aftermarket downpipe and the flex joint is right next to the main bolt on the rear mount. So, off comes the downpipe (pain in the a$$), then the mount comes right out, the new one goes right in, jack up the tranny a bit to get the alignment right, downpipe back on, good to go. All in all, not difficult at all, just time consuming because of my aftermarket downpipe.

Current car mods: 3'' downpipe, Terminator2 Tune (> 350whp), 235/40/18 Dunlop Dirreza Z1 Star Specs.

Test drive notes:
* Slightly more vibs at idle - doesn't bother me at all, you can't feel them once you're over 1200RPM, and they are no where near as bad as my old SRT4 with billet aluminum solid mounts (rattle the teeth out of your head).

* I was actually thinking about selling the car due to the torque steer. With the sticky Dunlops when you'd hammer it in 2nd, the car would be all over the damn road even when holding the wheel DEAD still. Trying to pass someone on a 2 lane road made you look like a drunk driver even in 3rd gear. Basically the torque was twisting the drivetrain, then the LSD would put power to one wheel, then the other, then keep transferring it back and forth as the drivetrain twisted. I actually had my chargepipe hit the underside of my hood and make scratches in both the vertical and horizontal direction (fail). --- Now, with the new mounts, this is 99% cured!. That is by far the best part of this upgrade, I can hammer it in 2nd and just keep my thumb on the wheel and it tracks dead straight.

* I have absolutely no wheelhop, and the traction is much better. Stab the gas mid-corner and the LSD will actually do it's job now rather than try and pull me in the ditch.

* Throttle response is instant. When I used to stab the gas, you could feel the whole drivetrain torque, and it would break the tires loose easier -- think about snapping a rubber band --- this is basically what was happening.

* When you let off the gas theres no more slop where you could feel the drivetrain flexing back and forth.

* The car definitely tracks more straight on the highway as well, following the imperfections in the pavement much less.

To summarize, this takes about 95% of all the negative aspects of this car away for me -- I'm very pleased with the outcome. If you dont have these yet, do yourself a favor and get them, you will not be disappointed. I know the TTR Stop Mounts are available as well, and I'm sure they do just as well, I have heard they have a few more vibs than these mounts, probably from the full poly application. The TTR's are probably suited a bit better for pure drag racing --- but I drive my car 2k miles/month... the OTTP's are perfect.

I have the TTR STOP mounts and like you said they do work great as well. I wonder how they compare to your OTTP rotated mounts side by side. Has anyone compared the 2 by any chance?

I may need to upgrade to the Stage 1 rotated mount soon. I still get some wheel hop at the top of 1st gear on a hard launch. It drives me nuts. Oh well, at least I'll still be able to use my GMPP rear trans mount with the Stage 1 mount. That makes purchasing the GMPP trans mounts some what useful, haha.

I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that the GMPP mounts are just TC mounts. I would shitcan all of that and just do the OTTP Stage 2.

Correct they are, and they worked fine until I got the H62 blower and smaller pulley. The GMPP trans mounts were a nice upgrade over the shitty stock SS/SC mounts.

I dont need OTTP Stage 2 mounts. OTTP Stage 1 will be fine for my car, because it is strictly a street car. If it were a track car, and I was making over 300 whp than yeah OTTP Stage 2 mounts without a doubt.

I agree the OTTP mounts were probably one of the best mods I did to my car.

Good write up. I don't actually notice the torque steer that bad in this car though I'm tuned (not as agressivley as you) and when I punch it in 2nd or 3rd sure the wheel jerks a bit but it's not bad. Maybe it will be more noticable with pedders and stickier tires (next mods). Then again I used to drive a FWD Talon with a big turbo on it so when you look up Torque Steer in the dictionary that car came up.

Cool Nice review.
I buaght mine used though. How do I check to see if my mounts are stock or not? Mine came with some ungrades already (Intense Stage 3 pcm , 2.85" Pully 42" injectors, Ingalls Torque Dampner, dc sports strut tower bar)

but our T/C already comes with the GM wheel hop tranny mount, so wouldn't getting a TTR motor mount would be enough?

Stg 1 OTTP Mounts

Anyone have just the stage 1 (Front with rear spacer only) installed? If so, how is it performance and vibration wise? Thinking of putting this in my SS/TC which I don't drag race. I don't want to deal with vibration..it's basically a street car.
