You want to see a big power gain look in my gallery at my bone stock vs tuned dyno numbers the average gain is approx 65 whp from stock. G8= 4000 lbs 370 whp=10.8 lbs/whp Modded TC = 2900 lbs 320 whp= 9.0 lbs per whp. which has the better power to weight ratio? The TC will have traction issues though unless he is on DRs. $42,000 vs $24,000 and the Cobalt will kill the GXP on any road course. Which is better for the money from a performance standpoint?
I didn't say a stock TC @ all, and the G8 GXP was track tuned @ the ring just like the SS/TC was. The G8 GXP isn't just a more powerful engine.

Update- A couple tweaks in the PCM and we picked up 30 whp and 80 ft lbs! These things really wake up with a simple tune. I only got into the basics so far. I'm just thinking how easy it's going to be to spin the tires with 323 ft lbs to the tires.

you guys should look at ported intake manifolds, a freer flowing exhaust manifold, under drive pulleys, and cams for the lnf... develop them, and i will buy

The GXP costs 20K more than the TC. Not worth the money IMHO. I can buy a brand new Vette with the same engine and 800 lbs lighter for about the same price.
What is this 365 lbft of wheel torque in reality it is much much more than that but you don't seem to understand what a transmission does. Sorry to go off topic but I get annoyed by people quoting "wheel torque". A transmission is a torque multiplier it decreases the revolutions thereby increasing the torque. That's why horse power exists as a measurement so that you can compare the power difference between the flywheel and the drive wheels because the torque can't really be compared, the average vehicle puts out about 3000lbft of torque at the wheels in first gear. In drive it's the fly wheel torque multiplied by whatever the final gear is usually somewhere between 3 and 4:1. It's very effing simple to understand and it's the only reason a car can be moved from a dead stop. Put it this way you have a twenty four inch total wheel diameter your wheels apply 260 lbft of torque that would equal 260 pounds of force. Do you think that's enough to move a three thousand pound car, if you do maybe you should go back to school.

SS/TC ring time is 8:22

G8 GXP ring time is 8:30 w/ a non-professional driver.

So it would kill it huh. I admire the SS/TC, but alot of you need to realize it's not a mystical V8 slaying beast in stock form.

the ring is not the Be-All of circuits, it features MULTIPLE long straights where a high horsepower car like the G8 GXP will shine over the less powerful Cobalt SS T/C, the fact the SS is faster, tells the tale on how much better of a handler it is due to being so far down in power compared to the GXP...

put it this way, take that racing to Laguna Seca or Infinieon(Sears Point) and the SS would kill the G8 GXP, as the GXP wouldn't have as many long straights to shine

That is were you are very wrong. Mustang GT, Dodge Challenger SRT8, Lexas IS-F, BMW 135I, Pontiac G8 GXP, and many more cars that cost more money, and have more power will lose to a stock TC around a track. Amazing considering the stock tires on this car suck. Put a set of Dunlop Z1 starspecs on this car and a tune and it will slay nearly any car under $100K. Impressive for a lowly 4 cylinder fwd car.

Another update- 283WHP with ZZP downpipe and tune. We will have our offroad downpipe available soon. It will be priced very competetively.

We will also be working on an intake soon. The track opens in a couple weeks!

Where can you get a G8 for under $20,000 new? I'm just curious.

We broke 300 today with the addition of a prototype intake and a little cam phase tuning.
